Notes from Week 1's games of the Preseason :

Washington 7 Buffalo 6

Robert Griffin completed 4 of 6 passes for 70 yards and a TD in a very impressive debut for the Skins - i expect his fantasy stock to go up very soon and you should target him as a backup QB just in case he catches fire a la Cam Newton last year - he linked with Pierre Garcon very well straight off the bat.

Evan Royster seemed to be the #1 back over Roy Helu for the Skins - monitor this as Royster will be available on alot of waiver charts still

Buffalo did a whole lot of nothing thru the air and werent that better on the ground. Washington werent that much better to be fair but did look more potent.

Baltimore 31 Atlanta 17

Julio Jones looked scary good in the season opener - catching 6 balls for 107 yards and a TD. If he maintains form and pace from last year, Atlanta could put up huge numbers through the air with him on one side and Roddy White on the other. Oh - and a certain TE named Tony Gonzalez. Matt Ryan could be a stud QB.

Flacco and the Ravens eventually outlasted the Falcons but only after Flacco stayed in against the Falcons backups.

New Orleans 6 New England 7

Nothing really to be noted from a seasons point or fantasy terms - both Brees and -G.O.A.T- struggled and the defences dominated. One of the Patriots main MLBs suffered a serious injury however that could be season ending.

Philadelphia 24 Pittsburgh 23

Mike Vick (again!) takes a hit that forces him out of the game for the dirty birds, but the hand injury is not apparently serious.

Both teams seemed much more potent through the air than on the ground with all QBs used having a high completion percentage.

San Diego 21 Green Bay 14

Massive news - Bolts #1 RB Ryan Mathews breaks his collar bone on his first play and is now expected to be out the best part of 2 months - this will seriously affect his fantasy stock (had been a first rounder) and has to have a big question mark against even when he does return.

Chargers new lead WR Vincent Brown had a good game - 80 yards and a TD. Antonio Gates also chipped in with a TD.

Aaron Rodgers - 2 from 8 with 1 INT. Are you worried? No, neither am I.

Denver 31 Chicago 3

Peyton Manning 4 from 7 with 1 INT. Are you worried? You should be. Manning was given great protection but you have to wonder just whether he can get back to the days of production when he doesnt have Wayne, Harrison and Dallas Clark.

Chicago showed little both rested all main players on both sides of the ball.

Denvers defence recorded 6 sacks on the game.

It's early, but I'm developing a man crush on Nick Foles, the Eagles 3rd round draft pick.

Then again, I've had my eye on Foles since he was at Arizona.

DAVIE, Fla. — As the Miami Dolphins took the field for practice today, Chad Johnson was getting out of jail.

Hours later, he was out of work.

The Dolphins terminated the six-time Pro Bowl receiver’s contract about 24 hours after he was arrested in a domestic battery case involving his wife.

Johnson had been released from jail on $2,500 bond earlier today after his wife accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home. Johnson was charged with simple domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

The confrontation came barely a month after Johnson married Evelyn Lozada, who is on the reality TV show “Basketball Wives.” The 34-year-old Johnson had been battling for a spot on the team after a disappointing season with the New England Patriots in 2011.

Following today’s practice, coach Joe Philbin said he would meet soon with Johnson.

“We’re going to deal with this,” Philbin said. “We’re not going to waste time. ... We’re all in this thing together. Everybody that sets foot in this building, we’re all held to a high standard.”

Only five days earlier, Philbin said Johnson’s roster spot could be in jeopardy if he didn’t temper his freewheeling behavior. Johnson annoyed the coach by frequently using profanity during a session with reporters.

Johnson’s defense attorney, Adam Swickle, said an order has been issued that prevents Johnson from contacting Lozada. Swickle declined to comment further.

Johnson — who recently changed his name from Chad Ochocinco — was arrested Saturday after Lozada confronted him about a receipt she found for a box of condoms, police said. According to an arrest affidavit, Lozada said she was taking groceries into their home when she found the receipt in the car trunk.

When the two were seated back in the car, they began talking about the receipt and their marriage. That’s when Johnson got upset and head-butted his wife, the report said.

Lozada ran to a neighbor’s house and called police. A responding officer said Lozada had a 3-inch cut on her forehead, according to the affidavit, while Johnson did not have any visible marks or bruises. When questioned by police, he confirmed there was an argument over the receipt, but said his wife had head-butted him.
