This just in: a famous / notorious RZA predictive site gives Divers a 20 point advantage over the Deflators.

The GOTW team is an objective non-partisan reporting platform. We are just reporting what's out there

EDIT: for those interested below a peek into the GOTW newsroom. As you can see there is lot more going on than you might have expected...

Interview with IMGregory of the Deflators

Pffew, what a season eh! Your team reached the Thunder 1.1 Bowl game. One word to describe your feeling on achieving this please?

Unreal. Honestly, with how tough the NC South is, I would've been grateful just to get at least 8 wins.

Now for the longer answer: Why do you think your team made it to the Bowl? You won a Bowl just three seasons before in Thunder 2.2. To be in the 1.1 Bowl now is pretty crazy. Obviously you had a good season but lots of teams had good seasons. In the first play off the Alligators pushed you hard and I think a lot of people thought that was how far it would go for you. What is the secret to your success?

The switch we made to the advanced playbook was the main key. I knew it would help unlock our team's full potential. But even I was surprised that it would work this good this soon. And here's the real scary part: It's still evolving. Another key is the fact that many old guard teams in this region either went through rebuilding phases or went BOT. It also doesn't hurt to get hot and incredibly lucky at the right time.

Was there a point in the season where you thought that getting to be Bowl was an achievable target? If so, when was that? If not, what was your goal you wanted to reach this season?

Like I said earlier, the goal for this season was at least 8 wins, so to win 13 during the regular season was definitely a pleasant surprise. It wasn't until after we beat Die Verdammten in the divisional round where we started feeling like we had a legitimate shot at reaching the bowl.

You reaching the Bowl has surely surprised many. What advice would you give to any new managers who might be reading this interview?

Don't pay too much attention to Bova's predictions, 'cause games aren't won on paper . Okay, in all seriousness though, use the advanced playbook. I know it may seem daunting at first, but it can have a huge payoff once you get the hang of knowing how to work it.

Divers beat you early in the season 27-16 at your house. However you had quite a few good field positions that resulted in a FG instead of a TD. How do you rate your chances against the Divers who've got to be the favorite. Or is the underdog status something you actually relish

We've been underdogs since week 1, so we're used to it. But if I had to be honest about our chances on winning this, I'd say a 4 out of 10. We've always been able to adjust well against every opponent we've faced the 2nd time around during this season. Also, that game was all the way back in week 3, back when our advanced playbook was still brand new with plenty of kinks to work out. A lot has changed since then and now. Yeah, we're huge underdogs, but I like it. Look at it this way: All the pressure is on them. They're the ones with a perfect season to play for. They're the team everyone expected to be here. No one even thought we'd be a playoff team at the start of the season! I'm just so grateful to make it this far that honestly I'm going into this with no regrets, win or lose. Besides, I'm likely getting relegated from Elite League next season anyway, so I'm sure I'll get more cracks at it (barring I don't get put back in the division of death again known as the NC South).

What is your favorite moment of this season? It can be a game or even just one play?

The kickoff return at the end of regulation against Hucknall Broncos in week 15 to snatch victory from the jaws of what seemed like sure defeat. I hear people are already calling it the "Mile High Miracle" (or, as Bronco fans would rather call it, "Mile High Meltdown" )

Interview with thomastem of the Divers

So your team reached the Thunder 1.1 Bowl game. One word to describe your feeling on achieving this please?

Satisfying.

Now for the longer answer: Why do you think your team made it to the Bowl? Obviously you had the 16-0 season but two other teams has this as well but didn't make the Bowl game. What is the secret to your success?

My offense is designed to save money on the interior O-line. My punter and kicker regularly get experience there and I do not have a player rated above 3 stars ever playing Center or guard. The money I save compared to other teams in this area allows me more at the positions that are important to my Offense and Defense.

Despite having no money spent on centers or guards my rush offense was ranked 2nd in the league.

Was there a point in the season where you thought that getting to be Bowl was an achievable target? If so, when was that?

When the Michigan State Spartans decided to sell their veterans I got their QB Dexter Cunningham which raised my passing game to another level. I already had the defense and running game going strong so the addition of an elite QB made me feel we could play with anyone.

Your rise to the top has been sudden and unexpected by many. What advice would you give to any new managers who might be reading this interview?

While there is good advice in the forums there is also bad. I see a lot of teams never able to take that next step because they blindly follow what some of the vets write in discussions and even rookie forums, My advice would be that you confirm what others write and don't be afraid to think out of the box.

It is fair to say that this season you often claimed to be the underdog in games. This time it is also fair to say you are the overwhelming favorite. How do you think your team will cope with being pushed into this role?

Bogan Galaxy destroyed us in an early season Super Cup game and the Deflators just beat that team so we are prohibitive underdogs.

What is your favorite moment of this season? It can be a game or even just one play?

Destroyed

Afterwards no words are needed, the opponent went away knowing the Divers are legit.

One more day to go. Tensions must be running high in both camps by now. Will Divers be able to deal with this pressure? Will Deflators be able to overcome the odds?
