End of last season I've decided the adopt the Browns as my second team behind the Packers. This is because I work in analytics and I believe in what Sashi & co are doing over there and I am excited for it. Also I am a perennial underdog lover. The Packers connection btw is because of a childhood friend who has moved to Green Bay so didn't pick them as so much that Green Bay picked me .

However I do not know anything about the Browns other than what I can find on a wiki. Are there any Browns fans here that want to get me up to speed on all the info that only fans know

I don't have a second team, and for a very good reason. I've been following the Giants since 1984, and back then I picked a second team from the AFC - the Denver Broncos. All was well and good, until halftime at SBXXI when the Broncos led 10-9 and had enjoyed the best of the first half. At that point I hated them with all my heart, and promised myself never to have a second team ever again. In my crazed fandom I also predicted pre-game that the Giants would win 20-0, and but for a missed XP they would have won by 20 points, but we won comfortably in the end and that was all that mattered.

Anyway, what were we talking about? Ah yes, the Browns!

Cleveland has been a mess ever since Art Modell left town, although it might have been very different if Al Lerner - who brought them back - hadn't died in 2002, because his son was pretty hapless. Jimmy Haslam taking over looked like he would bring some much-needed solidity, Haslam having been a minority owner in the Pittsburgh Steelers (an arch-rival but model organisation). Instead Haslam has spent his first few seasons falling out with management and staff and making sweeping changes from season to season.

Until last season, when Sashi Brown - a lawyer with no football experience - and Paul DePodesta - a baseball exec more famous for Michael Lewis' Moneyball book - were brought in. But at least they appear to be heading in the right direction now, and Haslam has cooled down and realised his constant interfering was only hurting his team.

Again, it could have all been different. Joe Banner had them on the right track but fell victim to the power struggle, and the Rob Chudzinski/Michael Lombardi regime could have led them to much greater success. Chud is an excellent coordinator, though the jury is out on his head coaching skills, and the front office under Lombardi made several astute moves and hoarded draft picks. In fact, the Browns had the offer of a 2nd round pick on the table from the 49ers for Josh Gordon before Haslam vetoed it. By 2014 Gordon was suspended and still hasn't played, and Lombardi was elsewhere. You can bet the Lombardi Browns weren't drafting Justin Gilbert or Johnny Manziel, especially when they could have moved Gordon and drafted instead from this 2014 class of WRs: Sammy Watkins or Mike Evans if they hadn't traded down, plus these guys - Odell Beckham Jr, Brandin Cooks, Kelvin Benjamin, Marqise Lee, Jordan Matthews, Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, Jarvis Landry, Donte Moncrief, John Brown...quite a list for a team desperate for receiver help, even now. Instead Ray Farmer blew the picks, Pettine sucked, and the Browns became even more of a laughing stock.

Sashi & DePodesta stockpiled picks last season and went with quantity, which was probably a good move considering the talent-starved roster. Corey Coleman was arguably the best wideout available but he still has a ways to go. It'll be very interesting to see what they do with this season's draft, and obviously QB is still top of their agenda after passing on the opportunity to draft Carson Wentz last season (which looks like a mistake). Most experts think they go with Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett with the 1st overall pick (I would) and perhaps QB at 12th, but anything is possible now - maybe even a trade down at 12.

So yeah, the Cleveland Browns - always interesting and never dull!

As a Ravens Fan, I can never thanks the Browns enough.

Mainly for sucking so hard that my team came into existence.

Jokes aside; I'm more of a sports-fan than a team-fan and the Browns are one of my favourite franchises as well as Lions, Cowboys, Patriots and Steelers. The last two, mainly because they (imo) really show how to run a good organization.

Cowboys because I'm a sucker for history and Cowboys are just in so much of the history of the game... and that I drafted Zeke in all four fantasy leagues I played last year - and won two of three finals I got to. Everything helps.

Lions... I honestly don't know, but I like the Lions.

You like the Ravens, too! Btw, they are supposedly going to sign Tony Jefferson so they will have the best safety pair in the NFL. Weddle and Jefferson is going to be fun to watch.

You never took a look at my team name?

As said; I'm more a fan of the sport, than I'm a "team-fan". I really like the Ravens, they were my first 'love' in the NFL. But it's not like I want it to go bad for Bengals, Browns and Steelers, just 'cause I'm a Ravens-fan. A tougher division is more entertaining and I already think the AFC North has shown over a long period of time that it's one of the toughest divisions to play in. It's one of few divisions where emerging with a 9-7 score as division winner doesn't mean that it's a weak place to be.

Browns making moves in F/A. OL looks to be stacked over in Cleveland. Also from what I see/hear from draft analysts a lot of people love the prospect of Myles Garrett #1 and OJ Howard #12 (assuming they don't give away that pick for Jimmy G, which I do expect to happen). Btw very bold choice volunteering to root for the Browns
