I agree - - when I had a lot of missed safety tackles, my feeling was that a coach helped some. I'm still not sure it warrants having a safety coach. I've also had luck with decent levels of tackling on my safeties.

I have safeties with high tackling but no coach. Last year I had one missed tackle (43 attempts) during regular season play in 1.1. This year I already have two misses (27 attempts) in Elite.

In Elite last season with a SF coach:

Tackles SF #1 41 - missed 1
Tackles SF #2 39 - missed 1

Not saying it's proof of my theory but I am pretty happy with that showing from my SFs in the top division
