What about staggering the point at which teams from certain levels enter? In the football (soccer) FA Cup top teams join in in the 3rd round after lower teams have already been knocking each other out in the first two rounds.
It could start with 2.x winners, the 1 joins in, then Elite.
The argument against could be that it makes it easier for Elite to win it, but it appears they're highly likely to anyway. The CoC cup would still exist but the top teams would play less rounds so wouldn't get so much money. Doesn't solve the competion side of things though.

I also think CoC is out of date after Elite was coming up.
It is also obsolete to make a new cup concept for Elite teams (because all those D1 winners are Elite in the season of the cup).

I would make a cup for D2 division winners.
8x8=64 teams
I think that would help the lower tier teams in financial way and gameplay.

A D2 Cup is no CoC anymore.

A cup with different points where teams join it is kind of against that spirit.

I am sorry guys, I really don't like the made proposals so far. Not meant to be offensive

I think that the problem remains that (in real life terms) the NFL Superbowl teams then go into a highly financed competition against the equivalent of CFL bowl reams, NFL Europe bowl teams, College bowl teams and maybe even high school bowl teams.
Perhaps the easiest solution that Pete can live with is simply to reduce the money generated from the competition. Lower the gate money and the prize money to the level of an exhibition cup rather than treating it as a crown jewel. If necessary raise the SuperCup and league bowl prizes to reflect the importance of the competions.
My main point is that the COC cup has become too rich in reflection of it's diminished status as a competitive competition.

What about removing the CoC completely? There's already Supercup where teams across the regions might compete. Leave Friday the friendly-only day.

This would be the fair solution. CoC had its place. The Elite league has rendered it obsolete except as a cash cow for the participants, especially 5he better ones.

So let's shrink down the income out of CoC and I am fine with it...Kind a "friendly, but twice" maybe, and a peanut bonus for the champion...

I really dislike ditching the CoC format

This sounds like a good idea, it would be sad to lose it.

I think it would be a lot more representative of what the cup has become.
It's unfortunate that the COC and Elite can't really co-exist in a meaningful way. Still I'd much rather have Elite and if the COC is to continue, this seems a perfectly reasonable solution to me.

Not sure I agree that the CoC makes the rich richer. It just makes the best managers richer as a reward for being better and winning more, just like the SC and league. Wilm and OC both joined much later than I did and I most definitely have more money in the bank than them yet they beat me 90% of the time. Sometimes it's okay to admit that others are better than you and not blame it on the game design. If those asking for a change now were ranked #1 overall in RZA and dominated all 3 competitions I doubt they'd complain about the CoC.

Just my 2 cents.
