But the question is: How Willemstad Bridges manages to have a 76 overall skills dispite his under 2M weekly wages players?

Sound fiscal management, balanced skills training and building a war chest for a future assault on Elite - I like it and in my opinion is a far better long term strategy than boom and bust.

I follow a similar pathway and have managed to get an 80 ranking whilst keeping my wages below 3M

That's the way to do it. I'm going to make 80/3M my goal. Awesome

Getting to 80 while staying under 3M probably won't happen, but it might become the new goal.

Cheesehead is astute, must've scouted my team and contract lengths more than he's letting on....There'll be a big bump in salaries between this season and next without nearly the same bump in rating. If 80 under 3 is going to happen, the very end of next season is the last chance until a restock is needed and try again. And under 3M might not happen with all the raises due, let alone getting to an 80 rating.

Well kudos to you mate for having such a good team so early on. I remember you starting in Thunder 2 and now you are here whipping my @ss in Thunder 1

The managing training skills is most key here but it really depends on you spending some time each u p d a t e going over each player unless you have a faster way to predict player training in Excel or sth (I really wish Pete would add a 'train until x' option for players).

The key over longer term is to not train players (I also really wish we had player skill degradation over time so a 30 year old player is not the best player on the pitch in every team - with the salary to go along with it).

I mostly manage to keep track of training but will lapse a few weeks due to RL business and then I got 2 players who are on a 180k salary trajectory

But you have definitely inspired me to do another rebuild. I had a long term strategy but it quickly turned into 'buy any decent player you can find to win now'. That clearly is not working as salary wise I should be whipping your @ss

But the most daring aspect of your strategy has been going under the radar, turnturnturn, and that: going for it on 4th down when in FG position! I really love the guts you showed, as we in RZA need to programme this into our PBs before the game and we cannot react to in-game events (feeling the flow of the game dictates that you need to go for it for example).

You fully deserved the win just based on those plays and I have a lot of respect for you for it!

Dumplings Weekly Review 21st July

My big game prediction was Centurions @ Wild Thangs and looking at the scoring box the Wild Thangs scored all their points in a 41:14 loss in the 3Q only whilst the Centurions scored all their points in quarters 1,2 and 4. A big win this for the Centurions who earlier in the season looked as though they didn't have the firepower to mount a post season challenge. However after today we need to take this team seriously

Mantis came from behind to beat the Patriots 27:17. Down 3:17 at half time the Mantis picked off 2 passes in the 4th Qtr to cap a stunning comeback to keep their outside chances of a play off spot alive

Congratulations to the first 3 teams to clinch a playoff spot: Bridges, Destroyers and Dumplings

BIG GAME matches to watch:

Bridges @ Deflators - Both teams are division leaders and looking for another win to get closer to picking up some early divisional champ silverware

Destroyers @ Mantis - Both teams lying second in their division need to win to keep the heat on

I lost my second big game in succession. I even used MOTS and still lost handsomely. My run game is not up against elite defences despite at least 30% of my squads wages being put in O line and RB/HB!

Disappointing. Next season I'll be selling loads of players and start a soft rebuild the season after using Bridges as my inspiration

With 3 games to go in the season, the playoffs are starting to take shape. Here is a run down of the state of the playoffs:

AC - Top 6 teams have more than 10 wins...wow. Here are the standings, as division leaders always take the top 4 spots:

1- Thunder Bolts 11-2 (PD 417)
2- Kalapana Wild Thangs 11-2 (PD 415)
3- Deflators 10-3 (PD 324)
4- Wolflings 11-2 (PD 290)
5- Rome Centurions 10-3 (PD 282)
6- Xu Da 10-3 (PD 310)

needing some help to make the playoffs:

7- Colonel Mustard Moustache Men 9-4 (PD 192)
8- Duluth Eskimos 8-5 (PD 153)
9- Barossa Bulldogs 7-6 (PD 181) **may only qualify as division winner
10- Fredericksburg Comanches 7-6 (PD 78) **PD may be too low to qualify for anything, but still an outside chance

NC - The NC doesn't have the depth that the AC does, but there are some pretty good teams that will be in the playoffs. Here are the standings, as division leaders always take the top 4 spots:

1- Norfolk Dumplings 12-1 (PD 478)
2- Willemstad Bridges 12-1 (PD 393)
3- Inbhir Narann 9-4 (PD 208)
4- Valian Pinoys 6-7 (PD 43) **will only qualify as division winner
5- Norfolk Destroyers 12-1 (PD 381)
6- Amersfoort Alligators 10-3 (PD 210)

needing some help to make the playoffs:

7- Kokomo Mantis 8-5 (PD 184)
8- RC Frogs 8-5 (PD 168)
9- Totoras Patriots 7-6 (PD 35) **may only qualify as division winner
10- Nashville Renegades 5-8 (PD -235) **will only qualify as division winner
11- Spitting Llamas 4-9 (PD -59) **will only qualify as division winner

Dumplings Weekly Review 25th July

My first big game prediction was Bridges @ Deflators - A great victory for the Deflators winning 23:30 although the Bridges had made it a 3pt game early in the 4th Qtr. Despite the Deflators QB throwing 3 Ints, their running game saw them home.

My second big game prediction was Destroyers @ Mantis - This game looked tight in the middle of the 2nd Qtr with the first 4 scores 2 FG each leaving it 6:6 and then KaBoom the game was won by the Destroyers 51:20. Over 400 yds passing for the Destroyers QB who might need his arm wrapping in cotton wool ahead of the playoffs.

Congratulations to both the Deflators and Dumplings who are the first teams to clinch their divisions.

Talking of the playoffs Tpal70 has done some excellent analysis on who needed what to get in. Well based on the results today could some of the outsiders now have a chance.
In the NC - RC Frogs are just a game behind Alligators who have lost 3 in a row.
In the AC - Colonel Mustard Moustache Men are battling it out with Xu Da for the 6th spot

BIG GAME match to watch:
Dumplings @ Wolflings - Both teams looking to nail down their conference #1 Playoff slot

I even used the Match of the year setting against the Destroyers and his normal setting destroyed me on that passing game. Wow. The Destroyers are for real folks!
