BU Terriers 1-0 vs. San Diego Blitz 0-1

The battle of the NC South. With Orange Crush gone, everybody assumed that Solana Steve would have a lifetime subscription for the division title. After suffering an OT loss against the Ravens and the win of the Terriers against Lyon there is a real opportunity for the Bostoners. In their last league match the Terriers won 23:12. San Diego is still the favorite but there is a fine smell of a possible upset lingering in the air.

No upset today....we came to play.

I was thinking about what I wrote during the live. Your team seemed kind of angry Great match of showing who you are !

Congratulation on the win, Buziano.

So close, but those 2 big plays for TDs did just kill my team.

As you have seen, I worked out a PB just for you. Actually, they were even 4 big play TDs.

I found it amazing that my team had so many problems dealing with your defense. These big plays aside, your defense was able to control my offense pretty well. An your offense is excellent as well.

The way this season is going, we might see some more. I am glad, my team was able to help.

This being said, I have to have a serious word with the defense.

Welcome back to season 40 everyone, let's take a look at my second power rankings. This was incredibly difficult with 20 teams at 1-1 and a large number of upsets. There's quite a few changes from almost top to almost bottom.

1. Salt City Pirates (1)- Certainly can't remove LuLuBa from the top spot after dominant wins in the first two games against The Philadelphia and the Whitings. Still has some tough games left but really, really excited to see this DC, Salt City matchup mid season.

2. DC Washingtonians (10)- Our first huge jump from 10 to 2 for the Washingtonians after destroying both the Runners and Gangsters. Incredibly complete and impressive wins. ptdoc saw what the Runners did last season and chose to emulate that blueprint. Is the aforementioned match a preview of the conference championship?

3. Wilmersdorf Wadenbeisser (3) - WW keeps rolling along in coast mode, had a nice comeback win against the upstart Bridges and a more convincing one against division newcomer TigerCats. No one surprised they currently sit atop the AC, but will they log in consistently is the large concern.

4. Baltimore Ravens (7)- Another jump from a SeaDevil squad, PJ and company pulled out a clutch win against the Blitz and is trying to keep pace with DC. They play the last week of the season in a game that will likely have a lot of postseason weight.

5. San Diego Blitz (6)- The Blitz move up after a heartbreaking opener with an angry revenge beatdown of the entire city of Boston. The whole division is split 1-1 but it's clear the Blitz will be fighting for that bye week.

6. Helsinki Gangsters (2)- Henry's team took a little nap in week 2, but I certainly can't write them off, especially since it's clear they lost to a really good team. They lost a couple questionable ones last season and look where it got them.

7. Social Distance Runners (5)- Reports are Buziano made his team run extra drills for their lack of effort in week one. The result was a tight win in week two. They'll need to keep improving if they want to keep pace in that division. That'll be tough traveling to Gangster territory next game.

8. Comeback Kids (4)- The Kids stumbled in week one, but regained composure to upend the jackalopes in week two. Anyone who read my writeups in Monarchs knows I'm a curse and the Kids early struggles support that belief. They get a bit of relief with the surrendering Linstock up next.

9. Chelt Nam Bobbers (9)- A strong win against the Armadillos, a surprising loss to Philly. My money is still on the Bobbers to represent this division come playoff time.

10. Black Dragons (17)- Dragons start off hot with a tight win against the long time rival Leopards and a domination of Marife. Do the Dragons return to the playoffs this year?

11. BU Terriers (11)- A rude awakening to the division order was issued by the Blitz. The solid win against Lyon means this team will still be in the wildcard race.

12. Lyon Eagles (13)- The Eagles had an impressive win over the Mascots giving them an early edge for wild card rights, but a loss to the Terriers doesn't instill confidence, but they've proved enough to snag the last playoff spot.

13. Hell Hounds (16)- The Hounds started with a bang beating the Kids, but followed it up with a loss to the Blues. It's the first 1 game streak this team has had since returning to elite. They'll hope it's only another one game streak as they visit the Ravens.

14. Free Agent Mascots (14)- Mascots stay put but also stay behind the Eagles after the loss. Games against the Bobbers and Gangsters in the next few weeks will tell if they are a legit playoff threat.

15. Maykop Blues (27)- A huge jump after beating the Hounds and the Bandits. Can they keep the momentum going against the Terriers?

16. Marife-Lacion (15)- Marife needed late game magic to beat a lesser opponent, then gets smoked by the Dragons. Add in the difficult divisional games and it's going to be a challenge for this team to stay in elite.

17. LoneStar Armadillos (24)- The Dillos move up after a nice win against the Wolves. They'll get two free wins from Linstock, darkhorse anyone?

18. AS Roma Wolves (12)- The Wolves have had a rough start with losses to the Lions and Dillos. The Falcons have played solid games so far, this would be a good start to get back on track.

19. Bracciano Lakers (22)- Lakers get a nice win against the Lions but couldn't get past the Mascots. The Wolves faltering leaves some opportunity.

20. Juggernaut Jackalopes (23)- A really tight loss to the Kids makes me feel this team is going to be at the edge of the wildcard race all season. They already accepted one forfeit with another coming later in the season, but the other division games should be good time.

21. Saker Falcons (18)- Two losses against top teams doesn't really tell us much, but at least one was close. The next game against the Wolves is nearly a must win.

22. Diorite Lions (20)- The Lions beat the Wolves but fell to the Lakers, I think we'll have a better idea about this team after the next game against Marife.

23. Philadelphia Eagles (30)- An impressive win against the Bobbers gets the Eagles their first Elite victory and a slide up in the ranks. They get a shot at the Bandits to make their case to stick around.

24. Williamstad Bridges (26)- The Bridges were in it until the end against WW and followed that up with a win against Rome. A big early game against the Basterds could set the division tone.

25. Basterds (19)- A quality win against the Whitings isn't looking as quality anymore, followed by a tough loss to an inferior team, the Basterds need to beat the Bridges to establish themselves at the top of the division.

26. Leverkusen Leopards (28)- Two tight losses to two good teams can't get Jack's squad raised in the rankings, but at least he's got calamari coming up next week to get on the board.

27. Istanbul Whitings (8)- With the largest drop in the rankings the Whitings season could not possibly have started any worse. Luckily no one looks like they are pulling away and there's plenty of time to get back in it, but it's certainly concerning.

28. Bretzfield Bandits (25)- They got a freebie from Linstock then fell to the Blues. A really interesting matchup with the surprising Philly squad could be one of the more fun games next week.

29. TigerCats (21)- The Ticats barely beat Rome and had a respectable loss to WW, but beating Lyon next week is very important.

30. Space Kraken (31)- Loses to Marife in the last minute after giving up a 4th and long, gets their first elite victory holding on after a late charge by the Basterds. Kraken accomplishes their goal of not getting a goose egg in the win column.

31. Rome Centurions (29)- A tight loss to the TiCats and another loss to the Bridges has the Centurions at the bottom of teams that have rosters. Some good news is that division is still wide open, the other good news is a top draft pick is within reach.

32. Erudite Linstock (32)- I see no situation where this team can win a game barring blatant tanking. #1 draft pick stops here.

Thanks everyone for reading, and tune in next week when we start getting a more clear picture of playoffs and relegations.... and most importantly draft position!

Mascots are ghosts in our dreams... and the nightmare goes on endelessly, so it was a loss already in the count.
The W against the Lions is an unexpected one, therefore it gives us morale and renewed energies for the next matches: most welcome.

Sensation is that all games will be hard fighting battles everywhere, until the best teams stand out of the crowd.
