I'd even go out on a limb and say that your teams are better than all of the bots I've played against.

Very interesting final week in Elite:

In the AC, only one PO spot is secured (OK, two spots as BobBoy plays a bot) with six teams competing for the other two division titles and wild card spots.

In the NC, only one PO spot is available with four teams competing for the wild card spot (and technically one division title still up for grabs but that's a long shot)

And four games potentially could determine relegation status w/ the Elephants-Guiness game needing to be awfully lopsided in Pete's favor to be the fourth.

A closer look at the AC, it seems both TigerCats and my Chaser will be above the cut with the winner getting the two seed and the loser getting a wild card. A Mascots win should clinch his spot as with the 5-6 seeding coming down to the PDs with the TigerCats-Chaser loser. The AC South is very fascinating with the Hell Hounds and Falcons playing each other and the Lions ready to notch a 60 point win. With a HH win, Falcons are relegated and HH gets the division. But if the Falcons beat the Hell Hounds (and do so by less than 35 points), the Lions win the division and the Hell Hounds go from first to relegation, whereas an unlikely 34-point beating of HH would move the Falcons to the division lead and relegate HH. Of course, if the Mascots lose, two AC South teams will make the playoffs.

Final week on Elite. PR Chaser already talked about the AC so let's take a deeper look on the NC situation.

#1 and #2 seeds

Salt City Pirates (13-2), Chelt Nam Bobbers (13-2) and

Salt City Pirates (13-2) and Chelt Nam Bobbers (13-2) have (technically) clinched the bye on playoffs due to PD. Home Malones (12-3) need a win over Spacebar Kraken (9-6) and that one of the other teams lose badly to stand a chance. The Losing Ducks (12-3) and San Diego Blitz (12-3) are already out of range due to PD. So the Bobbers and the Pirates will be playing for homefield advantage. The Bobbers have a 29-points lead on PD and will play at home against Rio Stars (10-5). On the other hand, the Pirates have an apparently easier game against Poznan Knights (3-12) despite playing in the polish territory. Let's see what happens.

#3 and #4 seeds

Imagining that the Malones will not achieve the title at the North, the battle for the WC homefield advantage is already over. The Ducks and Blitz will decide who gets the #3. A 24-point PD advantage for the Ducks, that will face the Social Distance Runners (3-12) while the american team takes on Bretzfeld Bandits (4-11). I think the french team will take it.

#6 seed

The #5 seed will be the Malones or (in case of a disaster)the Pirates. So, the last playoff spot will be decided among Rio Stars (10-5), DC Washingtonians (9-6), Baltimore Ravens (9-6) and Spacebar Kraken (9-6). Washingtonians and Ravens are going to have a direct battle. The winner will need a loss of the Stars against the Bobbers (which seems very probable). If DC wins that battle they do not need to care about the Kraken result. But if the Ravens emerge as winners they will also need that the Malones beat the alien team. Very exciting finish here.

Relegation

The Ravens and Washingtonians match will also decide the relegated team. Despite fighting for the playoffs the Kraken are already relegated. The other battle will be Dumbarajko Elephants (7-8) @ 2020 - THE RETURN OF THE JEDI (6-9), a.k.a. Pete's team. Yoda will need to pull out a 32-point-margin win to stay on Elite. Not easy for a team in a bad losing streak of 5 games.

Great stories ahead in this weekend. Luck and beer to all of you guys!

While typing the last post I noticed that the last playoff spot battle may be a bit confusing. Let's make it a bit easier to understand how each team may reach the playoffs:

Rio Stars (10-5)

Scenario 1: Win over Bobbers
Scenario 2: Loss against Bobbers, Kraken loss, Ravens win (and not discounting the 45 PD)

DC Washingtonians (9-6)

Win over Ravens, Stars loss, Kraken win (but not discounting the 57 PD)

Baltimore Ravens (9-6)

Win over Washingtonians, Kraken loss, Stars loss (and discount 45 PD)

Spacebar Kraken (9-6)

Scenario 1: Win over Malones, Stars Loss, Washingtonians win (but discounting the 57 PD)
Scenario 2: Win over Malones, Stars Loss, Ravens win

Since I don't have anything to write about until I do the playoff preview (likely with my team heading back to space for the offseason) I figured I'd add a little future Elite write up to the mix.

Thunder 1:

Elite regulars Basterds and Whitings look like they'll make a return trip this season, but don't count out the Deflators or Attack Dogs in the NC and the Wolflings or Eskimos in the AC.

Fire 1:

This one seems much less complicated. Lyon is dominating the AC while Maykop (formerly the Blues) has one challenger in Sacko del Toros.

Sea Devils 1:

Based on history you'd have to assume it'll be Vaxjo and Leeds again this season, but Vaxjo has a little competition in the Devon Warriors and Schrodinger's Cats.

Monarchs 1:

Would be surprised if this also wasn't a repeat of last season with the Dragons and Bulls returning. Jack and his Leopards would probably like a shot over the Bulls and Kharton and his Hornets vs the Dragons.

Claymore 1:

Claymore might be up for weakest region right now. Gladiators 3 looking at a return in the AC, with the Baguio Bucks undefeated with a slate of mostly bots. The NC has the Yorkies and Wildcats undefeated. The Yorkies, being an Elite crowd favorite, have the edge.

Galaxy 1:

The Eagles were there 2 seasons ago and look poised to return, maybe Tool and the fighting Maynards trip them up. In the NC the Terriers look unstoppable, the Black Bulls the only resistance.

Dragons 1:

Easily the most competitive region, in the AC you've got Dillos, Ergodicty (formerly Edudite Linstock), France 2018, and the Tampa bandits. As much as I enjoy writing Dillo facts, I'm picking Ergodicity Linstock. In the AC can you ever really bet against Drogon and his Gardians come playoff time?

Admirals 1:

Hard to vote against the Packers in the AC. They had a nice showing in Elite a season ago, and are playing great again now. Plus a world cup victory! The Motol Ducks just can't quite catch a break to join elite and will fall short again, along with the Little men doing stuff on the Pitch. In the NC it's the Wolves and Lakers all the way. The Wolves won by 2 in their early season matchup and I assume we will see them at it again for the ticket to Elite.

Well, my Stars tried but we are out of playoffs due to PD. Things almost turned around when the Ravens scored 21 unanswered points in 4th quarter against the Washingtonians. But it was not enough. Unfortunately I was eliminated from SC on Thursday, from CoC on Friday and from league on Saturday. Sounds like a bad week...

Hey PJ! Now our previous discussion about our game makes sense That loss was decisive!

Well, good luck to all! Specially for my Dragons friend Jonny Utah! I hope you will be the first of our region to win the Elite!

As I wrote all matches are decisive... even your win against a Comeback Kids (bot).

1063yrds vs 823yrds weren't enough to beat this Juggernaunt both outward and return.
Congratulation to Norfolk Dumplings who beat Bridges and deserved the stay in Elite

I had a nice season. With all these 1 score results in my book, I feel ok.

Pete, MOTY from my side and still almost 500 yards from your offense.

MOTY and you had 61% possession.

MOTY and a loss.

So glad I used it, it saves me to stay in elite.

Congratulations, now it seems that you were one second away from staying in elite.

Me once again 7-9. With al least three defeats that I believed that I had to avoid.

Next season 3rd straight season in Elite. Great accomplishment. But I am far away from being happy with my team. So many strange things, so many upsets.
