Happy new year, everyone
We had some really close games yesterday in what was a very enjoyable football sunday. But ultimately those teams that were favorites to advance before the games got through and will play the quarter finals coming sunday. Thank you for participating in this Hullabalooza and good luck for the rest of the season to Melittlemenon thepitchhitchin, TOOL, the Braska Bangers 09, the Leadhills Wonderers, the Hemet Hooligans, the Brookfield Ukies, the Ubernoobers and The Blue and White. Welcome to the first game day of the new year in this Friendly Cup. We hope everyone had a good start to 2024. As we’ll have fewer games every Sunday from now on we’ll shed a light on each of those specifically.
Here they are, the match-ups for Game Day 8 of the RZA New Year’s Hullabalooza 2024: 1600 GMT – Constanta Ravens (5–2) @ Social Distance Runners (5–2) The first game today is a Sea Devils AC conference duel between two experienced managers. Runners manager Buziano is around since S08 and his team has not had an ELO beneath 1.000 since 2016. They are visited by Radu91, whose Ravens in their current iteration may only be around since S48. But he has been a manager for many season before taking a break and find some new energy to attack again. Both teams are sitting at #1 of their respective divisions, and with both finishing the group round with a 5–2 record it will be an exciting game to start the action in this friendly cup today. 1700 GMT – Niceville Norsemen (6–1) @ Ruhrpott Miners (4–3) In contrast to the first game these two managers are amongst the younger ones in RZA. BoaTek and his Norsemen joined in S45, the Miners were founded by torakrid in S47. The latter has a very successful campaign in the league to this point, sitting at #1 in the AC North division of the Monarchs league with no fear to lose this spot again until the postseason comes around. The Norsemen still have to fight to get to #2 in the AC North division of the Elite league or they’ll be relegated to the Fire league after the regular season. They were nearly without defeat in this friendly cup, though, and enter this game as slight favorite. 1900 GMT – HAMBURG SEA LIONS (4–3) @ H2TAGIT4Q (6–1) The HAMBURG SEA LIONS threw away any chance to win another game this season yesterday with the decision to go MOTY in their league match-up and will be no challenge for the Creators team H2TAGIT4Q. The latter has been nearly undefeated throughout the group round and will have no problem to advance to the next stage. 2000 GMT – Bretzfeld Bandits (5–2) @ Ipso Facto (5–2) In this game two managers meet from each end of the spectrum regarding term of office, with Kottan being one of the earliest members of RZA (since S00) and ShareScope being the newest one, at least in this friendly cup postseason, having joined in S50. Kottans Bandits are sitting at #3 in the NC South division of the Elite and will be relegated to the Galaxy league again after their loss yesterday. Ipso Facto are at #2 in the AC South division of the Dragons league and still fight for a playoff spot. Both teams finished the group round with a record of 5–2. It’ll be interesting to see if ShareScope can compensate the lack of experience with a clever game plan. Good luck to everyone today  |

Too bad, because the first half was awesome and we were tied 17-17 at half, but the game engine went only in your direction in the 2nd half. I was expecting this after my game yesterday. So congrats Buzi and good luck in the next game. Make Sea Devils proud.

Chrill, thanks for organizing and for all your hard work put in this cup In the first half it felt like a shootout. Our defenses were both overwhelmed and not able to do anything. The second half was extremely one sided. I don’t really understand it. Could it be that my wider depth chart made for part of the difference ? We might meet again soon. |
