Image, we run another IECC competition. It would be revision 6 of this famous tournament. However, I thought it should be a bit more deserving for the final winner.
How about we play 16 teams cup at first. The winner and the runnerup are both advancing to Cup level 2, where they had to defend their reputation against another 14 teams. 4 Teams advance from this stage. If the winners of competition stage one are within those 4 advancning team, is questionable. We play stage 3, where the 4 advancing teams from cup stage 2 are in, plus 12 other teams. We do that, until we have a final 16 teams cup, which should be stage 8 of the IECC. This will be the final round, and it will create the final winner and receiver of that hardware trophy. Each team which is not amongst the advancing teams of the former round, is not allowed to enter the next stage. So if you are not among the 8 advancers of round 4, you cannot sign in for round 5. But you would be allowed to enter round 6, again. This means, the non advancing teams would have to make smat decision when to enter the competion again. To me, this sound fun. And yes, software tophies are handed out to each of the advancing teams for each round, and Credits are to earn for both the winner and runner-up of each single stage. Sounds like something we should go for? Edit: It will be fun to see who those 4 teams are who have the balls to go All In at stage 7 Last edited on 2024-02-25 22:01:41 by pete |

How would we determine place 3 and so on? Based on these known tiebreakers from the friendly cup division table columns, but all sorted throughout the whole cup, so division tables mixed together:
Pct, PDR, TDD, TDF, TDA, Dice rolled by Yoda So, winner is #1 Runnerup is #2 and from here the tiebreakers from above kick in Last edited on 2024-02-25 22:16:06 by pete |

What to win, and what to give:
Beside the reputation and the Credits, the Tournaments runnerup receives 3 Months of a supporter, and the winner receives a shiny hardware trophy. The winner has to give the photo story from his/her home village, as it is tradition. All other just have to give their Credits As it is tradition as well, one out of the 16 managers joing a single cup stage, can get the Credits for free to join, if he/she does not own enough. If there is more than one manager short of Credits, Yoda will roll dice, kick the loser, and provide the Credits for the winner of that dice roll Last edited on 2024-02-25 22:13:53 by pete |

Sounds complicated Pete in my humble oppinion.
So let me get this straight. The winner and runner-up of the first round has to join the next 7 round and has to finish in top 4, then top 6, then top 8 and so on. I don't like this idea because it doesn't get other managers a chance to play in qualifying rounds for the final tournament. |

I didn't understand everything. As usual I will have to win each match to get a trophy. As usual, this won't be happening. But if you have me, I am in !

Honestly, I did not get the system?
ONE 16 teams cup produce a winner and a runner up for level 2. Those 2 have to play in another cup against 14 other teams, so again 16 teams, to get to 4 teams for stage 3. Those 4 teams play in another cup against 12 other teams to find 8 teams for stage 4. In stage 4 something happens to find some more teams and from that some teams advance to stage 5. And then at some point we have 16 teams for the final-final round. As I understand it, whoever did sign up for stage 1 and win might get decked in stage 2, can reenter in stage 3 or 4 or whatever and whoever enters in between can also reenter at some point until the final setup is there. Hä? Sounds confusing and not really fair. |

There is a huge chance that the 2 teams that will play the final in stage 1, won't be in the last 4 remaining teams of stage 2. And in that way, those 2 teams have to wait until stage 4 to enter again (they are forbiden to enter in stage 3) to have another shot at making it in the last 16. It doesn't seems fair to me either.
Pete i like the old style. 8 Friendly Cups qualifications with 8 teams each (4 on wednesday/ 4 on sunday) and not all in the same time. This way more teams can play and 1 manager can play in 1 or more tournaments if he/she choses that. Winner and runner of each Friendly Cup advance to the final showdown which consist of 16 teams and the winner and runner-up don't have to participate in the next qualifications friendly cups. Now, it is your decision if it should be a 2 group 16 team or a 4 group 16 team in the end with the winner getting that shinny trophy that you send them. |

Thank you, Radu, that lifted the fog a bit
So as I understand now: Previous iterations of this Cup Series had the Winner and the Runner-Up of the 8 qualification rounds being set in the final competition, whereas they now have to battle through all the previous qualification rounds. E. g. the winner of Round 1 would have to be amongst the final 4 of Round 2 to advance, then this team would have to be amongst the final 6 of Round 3 and so on... or they drop out somewhere along the way, but can re-enter the tournament at a later stage? I do get where Pete comes from, as it is hard enough to get enough teams to play a Friendly Cup at all. The way he's suggesting to play it out would not depend on too many teams to participate, thus raising the chance to finish it maybe even this year |
