Would guess that most of you guys would play some form of NFL fantasy game through the season - i sure do - bit early yet - and if based on standard scoring systems - but if you found yourself with the #1 pick in your live draft, who would you go for and why?

Over recent years feature RB's have been the key guys to get - but with the NFL becoming ever more pass heavy, im expecting R1's to feature many QBs - but as far as the #1 pick? Hmmm...not so sure.

Personally i would find it hard to pass on Arian Foster, MJD or Ray Rice and theres more good QB's than feature backs around at the moment....but do i really wanna miss out on Rodgers, Brees, -G.O.A.T- or Stafford?

Your thoughts?

I'd be tempted to take Aaron Rodgers off the board straight away, Brees is worth avoiding because of all the stuff happening In New Orleans.
Running Backs worry me because of the injuries, Aaron Foster has his fair share of them ....I took McFadden early-ish last year in some leagues, his injury hurt.
I'd be tempted to go for a "left-field" strategy and take somebody like Calvin Johnson as first pick, then I'd try to pick some of the guys who aren't quite first-tier but have shown the potential for good fantasy numbers .... A J Green,Julio Jones,Cam Newton .... also, maybe take a gamble on some of the injured players from last year, their bare stats won't put them high on "cheat sheets" if they're recovered, might be worth going for it .... Matt Forte,Jamaal Charles ....even guys like Marcus Colston had injuries that affected their numbers.

So No.1 pick for me ....Aaron Rodgers or Calvin Johnson.

forgot to mention ....one or two TE's are worth taking off the board in a high-ish round ...not round one....but fairly high ....Gronk (obviously) plus Jimmy Graham and Aaron Hernandez.

If you're playing Dynasty League Fantasy Football ... Kyle Rudolph is a young TE at the Vikings who looks like a real candidate to grab and hide on your roster for a year or two.

A-Rod fell to me at #8 in my 'main' league last season (i played in about 25 fantasy leagues in various formats) and i snapped him up - went on to win it all, and the only game i lost was where he was on his bye week!!!

Theres no doubting he is a fantasy monster and i cant see any reason as to why he'll be any different in 2012 - its just that last year (once Manning was a deffo non starter) you were kinda limited to him, -G.O.A.T-, Brees, Stafford and Rivers as real elite QBs....now, you wouldnt be that hindered if you had any of them, plus the likes of Vick, Romo, Ryan, Roetlisberger, E Manning - and thats without the emergence of Cam Newton, plus the return of Peyton and the introduction of Andrew Luck and RGIII (good luck Robert!!!)

Its why i think a feature back will and should be the first ones to come off the board - WRS will be in plentiful supply this year and i definitely agree with you about a few stud TE's - i expect Gronk to go as early as R2 or R3 in standard formats.

I think i would still take one of Rice, MJD and Foster if given the #1 pick and then target a QB and another RB in 2/3, then key on WRs and TEs 4-7. Conversely, if at the end of the draft in R1, id prob switch and go with a QB/WR heavy team and take some committee backs in Rs 5 & 6.

Cant wait to get drafting this year....if any of you guys want or need a player who plays all year long, loves trading and posting, then gimme a shout!

Don't forget LeSean McCoy.

and avoid Michael Vick like the plague ....he's too injury-prone...and I just get the feeling he's trouble with a capital T.

cant take McCoy out of principle!!!

I see Vick as the ultimate boom/bust kinda player - theres no way i see the Eagles as being as poor as they were last season, but he is always liable for fantasy production - of course thats health dependant, but that can be said for any player in reality.

I think Reggie Bush in Miami could be in for a great year fantasy wise

I always look to RB's with first pick.
Adrian Foster & LeSean McCoy is the best fantasy guy
although Richarson will get a crap load of carries this year too
Chris Johnston could be a good reach for a bounce back year

Rogers is a solid pick if you want to go QB
Vick could put a lot of points up

Megatron is also worth it if you are a later round pick

I think Aaron Rodgers is a no-question #1 pick in most drafts. If you're able to draft him you're looking at 4,000+ yards and 30+ TD's on the season. Rodgers is the only QB that I would take #1 overall. I think McCoy from Philly is a safe-bet as well, seeing as how you can expect 30+ touches from him each week. That dude is beyond explosive with the ball.

So really it comes down to your preference- whether you prefer the QB or the RB with the #1 pick. Personally (speaking as a college QB), I'm going with Rodgers

I wouldn't disagree with your logic, but I'd advise to check the scoring system carefully before making your Fantasy picks .... reason being that I'm pretty sure nfl.com last year had "passing touchdowns" worth 6 points, this year they're worth 4 points ..... "receiving/rushing TD's" are still worth 6 points. Therefore, it looks to me as though QB's have basically been downgraded in relation to other positions.

Obviously if you use ESPN, Yahoo, Fleaflicker or any other platform this won't apply. I only spotted this by chance, nfl.com didn't make any kind of announcement ... which is a bit sneaky I think.
