When I started the top teams were rated around 48% - 50% and I was at 35%. The top teams are now around 55% and I am at just under 47% so the gap is closing slightly. My YA is full of players with TW and INT in the mid 30's upwards also so and in a couple of seasons 8 or 9 of those will be promoted to the first team.

+1.

This is my second season too and I came close to making playoffs in 1.1*, granted I do have a weak division which has helped. And by the end of this season I'll be promoting a draft quality player from my YA and will continue to promote one each season until my current crop of 16 year olds come through when I'll most likely have at least 2/3 draft quality players considering some of them are close to 40 in their main physical stat and still have 4 years left in the YA.

So a good draft this season and I'll be in with a very good chance of winning my division and being in the playoffs in my 3rd season. Plus when my 16 year olds come through in 4 years theres no reason I can't be competitive...

Plus if you look at my transfer history I've bought 3 youths to develop and sell, a draft QB, and a good rb I'm now selling because I wasn't using him. So I'll be pushing for playoffs in my 3rd season and have barely been active in TM...

I don't think there's too big a gap... I've I was starting now I'd have no problem spending 2-3 seasons to get promoted, and maybe another 2-3 until I start challenging for playoffs in 1.1. 4/5 seasons is reasonable enough imo.

*I admit i threw my last game, and had I not probably would have been in the playoffs... I felt that the difference in where I would pick had i made playoffs or not would make a difference to my team in the long term so made a decision.

The team, that made the POs in his division started at the end of season 3, so he also has quite a new team.
There is no base whatsoever to say that a new team can not be competitive in a few seasons, let alone on the long term with a great plan like holmeboy's.

Disclaimer: The Seadevils AC is probably the worst conference in the 1.1 leagues.

If you want to talk about success stories - China Chimp. They started last third of S3.

But let's see how deep they get into the playoffs.

This is about being #1 - not top 10%

Just as information this is my team stats:

S2: Claymore 2.1, started at midseason, reached conference final.
S3: Claymore 1.1, reached the playoffs in both league and supercup.
S4: Claymore 1.1, reached the playoffs in both league and supercup.
S5: Claymore 1.1, got my 1st div title in 1.1

So honestly, i dont think that you need ages to be competitive, only some planning and wise management of your assets.

p.s: global ranking 23, not bad for a young team (3.5 seasons old).

No wonder you're so good - you're ahead of your time!

It's S5.

I want to hear these words from someone in the low 40s or 30s.

That is because they took the time to earn it.

In fact, this is probably one of the faster sims in terms of ascending I've played.

Can I ask a personal question? What is your age? I am serious about that.

Dude, I was seriously asking, not being a smart mouth at all. I ask because of your approach to this game as opposed to say some others. I'm willing to be there is a correlation of age.
