Well, if all the also rans and non descripts can have their own thread - so can the mighty Redskins!!!

So how do we think 2013/14 will go? Another draft 1st round will come and go - unless we trade up which i seriously doubt. But after the finding of Morris in R6 of last season, hope springs eternal that we can find another gem or two in the later rounds.

Signs good so far that RGIII is recovering nicely from his surgery...fingers and everything crossed! Hopefully Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker are well on the road to recovery as well.

DeAngelo Hall and a few others let go so far - interesting to see how they handle Fred Davis. Good to see Sav Rocca resigned - decent punter and was great to see us have a decent kicker for once in Kai Forbath. Our ST has been shocking in recent years - looking better now.

Can we win the NFC East again? Handle our divisional rivals the way we did last season and you have to think so. Schedule looks rough though - exact weekly opponents not yet released but apart from a very cosy 4 games against the AFC West teams, we have the NFC North to go through and games against the 49ers and the Falcons.

I can see 9-7 maybe 10-6 again and it being very close atop our Division again.

We can ignore the OP....delusions of grandeur clearly!

So thoughts about Jay Gruden as HC?

Personally im not that excited by this choice - hes done OK as the OC at Cincinatti - Dalton has certainly come on as QB but i think thats alot to do with the quality of WR the Bengals have - and he certainly looked quite insipid against the Bolts in the playoffs.

Gruden is known for a very basic West Coast offensive playbook and not a fan of the read option at all. I like this - as i think it will give more protection to RGIII and i would hope would still be able to utilise his scrambling strengths on the back of Morris - about the only Redskin to be able to retain any pride from this shambolic season. He truly is a stud RB IMO and RGIII should be able to benefit from Morris' runs. So the question is can Gruden develop RGIII and get the best (back?) out of him.

We again dont have a first round draft pick but at least have a nice R2 option and then we are paid for RGIII in terms of picks. I would think they will go straight for a O-Lineman - although the secondary and D Line needs attention as well.

So come on you fellow Skins out there....lets have some chat and see if we can get some positivity going for next season!

I think Griffin is an exceptionally talented QB. Hes smart and has the added ability of being able to run. I just read an article about Griffin wanting to play a more pro style type of offense.

article

However based on all the other articles I have read, he is a ridiculously bad diva (coaches and fellow players saying this). If he wants to reach the "elite status" of QB than he needs to mature and stop thinking he is the man and everyone else is just there to elevate him. If he matures into the leader they need, gets healthy and doesnt cause any more issues with other players or gets his new coach fired than the Skins will be contenders for the division title with the Eagles.

rarely pay attention to redskins-

but seems RG3 is the biggest and most far-reaching factor. to my knowledge he's had some struggles on the field and with injuries. VERY talented but I give him a 50/50 chance of developing into a fine, consistent starter and leader. just my 'outsiders' perspective. and isn't that owner f*%ked up? Nothing has worked out there for a while. Albert Hainesworth, Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman? Jason Cambpell...Joe Gibbs (2nd stint), Steve Spurrier, telling obama to &%* off about the 'redskins' name (i sort of made that up). just seems like 15 years now of just not getting it done.

wifey says skins never should have started rg3 in week 1- he wasn't ready- things went bad from the start. i say jay gruden may benefit rg3 greatly. never heard about the diva thing.

Decent post and not far wrong at all.

Although most Redskins decisions have been train wrecks there has been some promise too. Divisional champs last year and made playoffs a few seasons before that is better than what Dallas can offer - plus we have got some great talent - Alfred Morris is a top 5 RB - Orakpo and Kerrigan are two of the best LBs in the Conference (when fit!) and Jordan Reed looked to be a quality TE before going down hard - we can only hope he continues to progress on his return.

But yes, for alot of the time you associate the Redskins with chaos and turmoil and theres no doubt that Daniel Snyder has alot to do with that.

I havent heard that RGIII is a diva - i see, though i may be a little blinkered, a guy almost trying too hard in a team that simply hasnt got the basics in place to let him mould in to being the franchise QB we want him to be. From the draft he was given #1 QB status and Team Captain - suffered an injury worsened by a disgraceful decision by the HC - and then cameback likely too soon and was nothing like the player before - but in a team still so dependant on him. Yet we still had a 1000 yard RB averaging more than most RBs in the league at his peak!

Im glad Shanahan has gone - i just think we needed a bigger character at the helm personally. Gruden's brother wouldve been nice, or Lovie Smith. But we will see.

Let's just hope the staff changes will bring improvement.
This team showed potential in 2012/2013 and with some changes in the defense can talk highly in 2014/2015.

Hail to the Redskins !

Ahem. Biased fan view a bit?

Peterson, McCoy, Charles, Lynch, Forte and Murray are all better than Morris imo. Ray Rice too despite a poor 2013 season.

fwiw Football Ousider doesn't even rank Morris in the top 10.
