My first round pick I got a RB. He was sitting about #7 or 8 on my list as I was drafting for need this year, not going for top talent on the board. Honestly, I found this draft to be quite lacking in most positions and the only positions that had some 1st round talent were positions I had no need of. I chose to pick a player who will become a starter by the end of the season, definitely by next season at the least instead with my 1st round pick instead of depth at a position I didn't really need.
Introducing Clay Shelby (he's fast like a Shelby, why not?) formerly known as Djamal Abolhassan. This 21 year old RB is out of the gate with 50 speed and a good start on STR and AGI that will develop nicely I expect. He's got the pass blocker trait, which seems to only be good for a few s e l e c t formations with multiple backs, so I have moved him to FB to take over the lead role there sooner rather than later. I tend to give my FB more touches than a lot of teams, so he should see the field often and be a starter by the end of the season. |

Yeah, this draft seemed to be pretty lackluster in my opinion as well.
I ended up with Daryl Saurer - a 19 year old SF, as most of my safeties are coming up on retirement age. The goods - 49.3 Speed, 46.8 TW, Fearsome Trait, and Okish Int (38.6). While I don't expect him to be a superstar, at 19, I think he will have plenty of time to move up the depth chart, and be a staple at the SF position for me for quite a long time. His current strength is only 35.5, but it's not yellow flagged so that's good, I can always hope he turns into a big hitter, just have to see where that strength goes up to. |
