That's pretty cool....when I was in Germany (around Bavaria & Munich), I spoke English to everybody and was able to get around (probably butchering all the German words).
Once I tried to check into a hotel though, the clerk looked at me (BLU/BLN) and my last name (which is a pretty common German last name) and just starts speaking German to me. Had to explain that I'm an American and we barely can speak proper English, let alone a "foreign" language. I lived in Chell near Henver (Celle near Hannover) for a year when I was very young and loved it. Heavy snow in the winter made it look magical.

Went to Minchin 3 times. Twice for work in February, once to visit a friend in July. Loved it. Such great architecture, parks in summer are so nice, many awesome restaurant (local, international, fusion food). One of my favorite cities in Europe.
