We all know about the different formations for offensive and defensive plays. And although the SEA LIONS are active quite a while now, I just now stumbled across this question:
Do RZA defenses play "man" or "zone"? Looking it up through searching the forums I found a thread from 2017 called "Zone Defense", in which user hollyhh2000 did provide some interesting stats regarding tackles made against offensive players in the 3-4-4 defense. Those stats, though, led me to think that RZA defenses do play "man", because the majority of tackles against WRs are made by CBs while the majority of tackles against TEs are made by OLBs. Does anyone know anything concrete about this (or at least as concrete as is possible with this game)? |

Somewhere deep inside the archives you should be able to find a statement by me, that goes a bit like "A bit of both" ...

I always play a box-and-one defense.

you can use scrimmages and friendlies to study different offenses vs different defenses. If I remember correctly, I think the length of WR routes can affect which defender covers them.

Because this question is on my mind, but probably by far not as important as I think it might be (but who knows?):
Are the distances to the line of scrimmage, as shown in the overview of the formations-section in the manual, correct? For example in 3-4-4 the Strong Safety positions himself 6 yards deep from the line of scrimmage and the Free Safety 12 yards deep? |
