Game Review: Yet Another Uninteresting Sports Event
Written by: Bored Guy McNothing
Ah, another football game. The crowd must have been wild...oh wait, there was no crowd. Yes, that’s right, nobody cared enough to show up. Sponsored by “Empty Glass - Fill with imagination,” it couldn’t be more fitting for a game no one had any interest in, including me. Let’s dive into the riveting details of this snooze-fest between the home team, Morior Invictus, and the Social Distance Runners—whoever they are.
First quarter—tension? Nah. Morior Invictus won the coin toss. Thrilling, right? Then they kicked off to the Social Distance Runners who, surprisingly, couldn’t make a big play either. The first exciting moment—or not—came when the home team fumbled, and the opposing team—oh, look, they actually recovered it! A fumble returns and yet, not a single person gasped. People were certainly not on the edge of their seats.
After some back and forth of incompletions and tackles that were probably considered ‘good’ in the game’s world, the fireworks finally began with a touchdown from Morior Invictus! We finally got a score! But not one loud cheer erupted. They followed it up nicely with a successful PAT, because why not?
Then came the thrilling part: some more attempts at running the ball and passes that didn’t connect. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but eventually, the Social Distance Runners managed to score, too. Climax? Maybe? Certainly not. They scored amidst another an avalanche of missed tackles and boring plays. People surely found a hundred other things to do.
The game dragged on with little promise of excitement. injuries to players, which limited the already lackluster performance out on the field. No suspense—just a barrage of basic plays, including bad passes and incomplete catches. The only moment any semblance of interest peaked was when an interception took place, but it only led us to another incomplete pass later. Yawn.
In the end, as the dust settled, not that anyone really cared, the final score was revealed: Social Distance Runners 24 - Morior Invictus 52. At least the home team left with their heads held high, knowing they played to an empty stadium—a true reflection of the audience impact. My thoughts? Next!
