Written by: Sir Touchdown McBlitz

In a dazzling showcase of football prowess, the Friendly Cup match at the English Garden featured an electrifying performance from the Ruhrpott Miners as they stormed past the Social Distance Runners. Experts had predicted a likely victory for the home team, and oh boy, did they deliver!

The game kicked off with the Ruhrpott Miners electing to receive after winning the coin toss. From the outset, they made their intentions clear. Quarterback Cyriaque Ndayisaha was on fire, connecting consistently with his receivers. An early 12-yard pass to Dino Feuerstein gave momentum, and he followed it up with more precision passes. The Miners orchestrated crisp drives, and by the end of the first quarter, the scoreboard ticked up with a touchdown and a successful PAT, putting them ahead 7-0.

Just when the Social Distance Runners were looking to strike back, disaster struck! During the second quarter, quarterback Troy Law’s pass was intercepted by Xaver Otto, leading to yet another touchdown for the Miners. The Runners couldn't catch a break as turnovers plagued their attempts to find their rhythm. A field goal later in the second quarter added insult to injury, pushing the score to 10-0, and then another touchdown made it a staggering 17-0.

As the game wore on, the Ruhrpott Miners showcased not only their offensive prowess but also a rock-solid defense, thwarting the Runners' efforts at every opportunity. The highlight reel continued to grow with yet another interception, with Xaver Otto showing off some fancy footwork as he returned the ball for 15 yards, further deepening the Runners' woes.

Though the Social Distance Runners managed to score at last, the Miners simply turned up the dial. Their relentless pursuit led to two more touchdowns, bringing their total to a jaw-dropping 55 points by the end of the fourth quarter. The Runners were left fighting for scraps, managing a mere 14 points on what would be a day to forget.

In conclusion, the final score was a resounding 55-14 in favor of the Ruhrpott Miners, leaving the Social Distance Runners and their fans wondering what could have been. A thrilling display of strategy, execution, and a touch of chaos — typical of an electrifying afternoon of American football!
