Can You Believe This? A Million Dollars Lost!
Written by: Al Sore Loser
Oh, the agony! The beautiful chaos of American football has left me in ruins, with my wallet ripped open and my hopes dashed. I wagered a million dollars on the Gardians, convinced that this League match at DMZ Sepulcrum would finally see them shine. What was I thinking? I should have seen the warning signs as the Girona Dragons 1714 took to the field.
From the very first quarter, it was as if the football gods conspired against me. The Gardians won the coin toss and chose to receive, but their first drive was deflated like a sad balloon. Their quarterback, Christian Parisot, attempted a pass to Rémy Loisel, but it fell incomplete. As if that wasn’t enough, they soon suffered an interception thanks to a sneaky Marc Teixidor, giving the Dragons a chance to strike.
Then began a torturous dance of field goals and turnovers. The Gardians managed a shaky field goal, thanks to Cristian Vidal, but I felt more sick than satisfied. Even when they scrambled to score a touchdown to take a slender lead, I was left bitterly aware of their increasing mistakes. A fumble near the end of the third quarter? I could barely watch. They fumbled the chance to secure their confidence and let slip away another opportunity to score.
As the fourth quarter dragged on, I felt myself sweating bullets—hoping that Gardians would find a way to turn the tide. But the Dragons held their ground: every tackle from Pau Sala and Marc Teixidor was like a dagger to my gambling heart, and every touchdown they scored just cut deeper. Who would have thought it would end up with a final play that sealed my fate? A turnover on downs—my head was spinning!
The final score? Girona Dragons 1714 at 30, Gardians at 19. I could hear the laughter across the bar as everyone reveled in my disaster. How could I face the world now? So here I am, nursing my wounds and lamenting the million dollars I thought would bring me glory. Instead, all I got was heartache and a lesson learned. Bet wisely, my friends, because some games are just not meant to be won.
