Stage would mean that the offensive "left" and defensive "left" would line up on the same side of the field;
While relative would mean offensive "left" and defensive "left" are opposite sides.. |

Not sure I get this right, but WR/L and CB/R are playing on the same side of the field - face2face vs each other - so "relative" in your example

Yes, offense lines up left to right facing down the field. Defense lines up left to right facing up the field. So the LT blocks the RDE etc.

But I ask because the DE usually comes behind the run on the opposite side chasing down the ball carrier; then I remembered the CBs and WRs so I felt oblivious to my answer. |
