The internet wasn't quite what it is today. But at any rate, you ran an empire. You would have fleets of ships, a ton of missiles, armies, all kinds of weapons and defensive equipment. You would colonize planets, take over star systems, set up trade networks, mine resources, etc. It was fabulous. All text based. Also turn based. So you logged in everyday, gave your commands, and when you would log in the next day, you would see how everything played out overnight. You generally competed against other BBS groups. There would be individual rankings and of course BBS rankings. It was a heck of a lot of fun. As a space kraken, I would imagine you would have cleaned house.
