What an electrifying match we witnessed at Zulo Beltza Stadium, where Pizti Beltzak played host to the Girona Dragons 1714 in a Conference Championship that had the fans on the edge of their seats! The anticipation was palpable, and with over 144,300 visitors tuning in, it was clear that expectations were set for a close game, and boy, did it deliver!
The action kicked off with a great start for Pizti Beltzak as Julian Wing, the star quarterback, quickly led the offense down the field after winning the coin toss. Wing’s dynamic passes and agile runs set up the first touchdown, with a short pass to Gino Luciano that culminated in a six-point play – and just like that, we were off!
As the game progressed through the first quarter, Pizti Beltzak maintained control, successfully converting multiple first downs and showcasing their dominance on the field. Their defense was initially tested when Girona tried to respond, but Pizti’s defense was resilient, forcing a punt that resulted in a crucial change of possession.
The highlight of the second quarter came when Girona’s attempts to claw back were thwarted by a stunning interception by Mihail Petre, who returned it 27 yards. The momentum swung dramatically in favor of Pizti Beltzak as they capitalized on this mistake, further widening the score with a touchdown followed by a successful PAT.
As we entered the third quarter, Girona finally found their rhythm and managed to score their first touchdown with a remarkable 55-yard pass. This sparked a brief resurgence, and they followed it up with another touchdown, narrowing Pizti’s lead in a nail-biting back-and-forth affair.
However, Pizti's strong performance continued to shine through, with Wing orchestrating plays that left the defense scrambling. Each play seemed to build upon the last, showcasing a blend of strategic passing and powerful running plays, including several successful drives into the red zone.
In the final minutes of the fourth quarter, despite Girona's attempts to rally, Pizti Beltzak sealed their victory with a series of solid offensive plays, including a beautifully executed touchdown from just beyond the 10-yard line. Ultimately, Pizti completed the game triumphantly and walked away victors. The final score reflected the hard-fought battle they waged: Girona Dragons 1714 7, Pizti Beltzak 33.
