2021-10-19 19:22:41 - NEW TEAM NAMEReport Abuse

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Tampa Bay Bandits have changed their name to the Pinellas Pikes! An unusual but yet interesting name. The Northern Pike is a long slender fish that is known as a relatively aggressive species, especially with regard to feeding. For example, cannibalism is common when food sources are scarce. This fish got its name from its resemblance to the pole type weapon used in European warfare from the Late Middle Ages to the early 18th century. The logos use of the Pike fish and weapon makes for quit a unique combination.

2019-12-31 15:22:23 - Season 36 Recap:Report Abuse

The teams league play did indeed finish at 13-3 as predicted, but missing out on the bye week and posting a one-and-done in the playoffs didn't produce the results the we expected from this club.

Their Supercup finish also matched our predicted outcome of 14-1, easily qualifying for the playoffs. In the playoffs they posted their most productive postseason in franchise history. With wins in the first 3 matches averaging 29-11, this team was on a roll. The 4th round of 16 teams featuring (6) non-Elite teams and (12) Elites was the end for this club. The Chelt Nam Bobbers were just too strong, our beloved Bandits were able to drive for a the 1st score and a 7-0 lead. But after that they were dominated throughout the game, eventually losing 38-14.

2019-10-16 19:33:29 - The Bandits - 1st State of the Team Address:Report Abuse

The teams start:

Just by chance The Bandits joined RZA just at the start of season-28. They were up and running early enough to even participate in that years draft. That 1st season the Bandits posted a moderately impressive 11-6 record in league play, and 10-5 in the Supercup, granted most games were against BOT teams.

The teams growth:

The Bandits win percentage stayed strong through the next 6 seasons (seasons 29-34), generating a 85-21 League record, and a 83-16 Supercup total. But the end of the 33rd & 34th seasons brought about the teams first experience with retiring players. Eleven players retired in those two seasons, and 7 or 8 were solid starters (including their staring QB). And as the organization was coping with replacing these players, they also got promoted to Elite. This was not ideal timing for them to get promoted, and after posting a 4-12 record the team was rightfully regulated back to Division-1.

This seasons (36) progress & expectations:

Now fully recovered from the departure of so many key players, the Bandits find themselves up against another round of retiring players, as (11) more are set to retire at the end of "this" season. This time though will not be so daunting, as only a couple are starters with their replacements are already in place.
Expectations for this season are high. They're off to a 5-0 start, with only a hand full of competitive matches left on their league schedule. A 13 win season here should easily be in the teams grasp. As for their Supercup play, they lost their 1st match, but the rest of their matches should be a cake walk to finish at 14-1. The bandits should easily make it to the playoffs. No one knows who will end up with that last victory, but the Bandits are sure poised to cause some headaches along the way.

The teams future:

Projections are not carved in stone, teams get better, teams get lucky, teams get unlucky, and our ball has quirky bounces. But here it is: I'm putting it in ink, the Bandits will go far this season. Deep into the playoffs and all the way to the big game. A promotion back to Elite is highly anticipated for this group. Hopefully once they get back to Elite they can better represent the Dragons with more then 4 wins!
