The game commenced with the Cheltenham Bobbers winning the coin toss and choosing to receive. Their first offensive series set an intriguing tone as Waran Kau, under center for the Bobbers, attempted several passing plays, though the Quokkas' defense held strong, resulting in incomplete passes and minimal yardage gains. The Quokkas gained possession and, through a series of well-strategized offensive maneuvers, managed to secure a 47-yard field goal from Rafael Bostick, marking the score at a tentative 3-0.
As the first quarter continued, the Bobbers struck back with a remarkable interception by Jerome Hahn, who returned it 13 yards for a touchdown. Following the successful extra point conversion, the Bobbers found themselves momentarily in the lead at 7-3.
