After the fourth edition again featured no undefeated team, the MoC obviously needs a fifth round. The cup is held on Wednesday and will consist of 16 teams in four groups, no power mode.

Feel free to sign up!

Here's the history of the MoC finals so far:

MoC I: Vienna Falcons 14:10 SpringHeel Jacks
MoC II: THE Underachievers (c) 27:10 FAJNY TIM
MoC III: Urshult Gladiators AFC 50:7 Nova Gorica Gamblers
MoC IV: Chelsea Nation 29:0 Quarry Bay Radiers

Last time saw Chelsea have a great Playoff run where they defeated three 6-1 Teams after a 5-2 group stage. Quarry Bay was no match in the final, but their fourth quarter comeback against the Gladiators (with Urshult declining to kick the winning FG in the final seconds of the game) remains one of the most memorable Moc Playoff Thrillers.

It's time for another Edition. Is there a Chance for a Team to finally survive the Moc undefeated? Who's up to the challenge?

And, as always, here's the hymn!

And that is it, we're off!

I have to say the field of competition looks impressive. Between the best team (66%) and the worst (58%) ist not much space and everbody is pretty close to the average of 62%. Seems like everybody can beat everybody here.

I made groups after seeding the teams from #1-#16 via the team rating, so that the top 4 teams all are in different groups, and so on.

Detailed groups previews will follow in the coming days. Stay tuned!

Group 1 Preview

Dresden Umbrella Sheeps - managed by SteMan
MoC record so far: N/A (first time participating)

Group 1 is favored by a newcomer: The Sheeps might be the best team in the whole field, but the space at the top is crowded and no team is favored heavily to win any group. The Sheeps are a five time divisional winner and mainstay of the Galaxy 1.1. They played in the Galaxy Bowl as recently as S8 and had double digit wins every season since S4. They also were in every SC playoff since then and reached the round of 16 in S7. They’re Pete’s worst nightmare. They currently stand at 3-1 and look again like an early playoff favorite, trying to hold off the Vulcan’s emergence.

Their passing game still relies heavily on Reinaldo Gomes, a seasoned vet and one of the all-time Galaxy passing leaders, but he is sharing his role much more today with his successor Ernest fisher. WR Tadeusz Becker and RB Roderich Schmid are consistent threats on the Offense, while Eugene Kennedy and Gerhard Weber combine for 75 Sacks over their careers – one of the best pass rush duos in the tournament. Also keep an eye on LB Richard Agee and OL Werner Weber, a perennial all-pro.

Chelsea Raiders - managed by E-Logic
MoC record so far: 10-4 (3-1 in playoffs) - WINNER of MoC IV

The Raiders come back to defend the title. They also played in MoC III, losing to the eventual champs from Urshult in the first round of the playoffs. Chelsea is a playoff caliber team ever since promoting to the Thunder 1.1 in S9. Since then they went 33-3 in the regular season, and played in one Championship Game. They played in the round of 16 in the SC in the last two seasons and have been to SC playoffs ever since S7.

Chelsea is led by an elite O-Line that continuously dominates the line of scrimmage and might belong to the best the Thunder region has ever seen on a consistent, year-to-year-basis. They pave the way for all-pro RB Shirley Barbour, probably the fastest RB in the Thunder Region, if not all of RZA. But don’t sleep on WR Conrad Roller, a Touchdown Machine and big Redzone threat. The Chelsea Defense is no world-beater, but DL Arcus Johnson is on a roll, tallying 7 Sacks in 4 games so far this season.

Saker Falcons – managed by hotel
MoC record so far: 0-3

The Falcons had a brief stint in the group phase of MoC II, and return to the field to give it another go. The Falcons hail from the Claymore 1.1, where they have won their divison four out of the last five seasons. They have been to the Divisional playoffs now in back to back years and have also advanced to the SC playoffs twice in their career.

The Falcons are lead by veteran QB Djamil Hasan, who is famous for distributing the ball to all his available targets, but their biggest offensive threat might just be RB Norbert Easterling, coming of a nearly 1500 Yard Season. The Falcons main identity seems to be their defense though. Ball Hawks and playmakers all over the field, including perennial all-pro LB Islom Shatskikh and veteran DL Stanko Kovacevic, who has broken the 100 career TFLs barrier recently.

Firenze Fappers – managed by Firenze
MoC record so far: 5-8

Firenze has been to every MoC so far except one, and is veteran of the cup. Never reaching the playoffs, though, makes them one of the most motivated teams in the competition. They are a five-times divisional champ in the Sea Devils 1.1, even reaching the Bowl game back in S7. They were to the SC playoffs three times, reaching the round of 16 back in S6.

They are a balanced team currently transitioning in their passing game since the retirement of Vicent Velasco, but they have a young star-TE in Soyalp Agaev to build upon. The Defens rallies behind LB Jon Partridge, who is on his way to be one of the most prolific LBs in Sea Devils history.

Rivalries:

Only two matchups in this group have met before: The Sheeps have won a friendly against Chelsea once, and Chelsea – Firenze is a rematch of the MoC IV group stage duel that saw Chelsea win the game 31:14 (a classic example of Chelsea’s OL play) on route to their playoffberth and eventual MoC title. Firenze will look for revenge, which should make this matchup a good one.
