Introduction:

Hi guys!

As I already promised some time ago I’ll finally present my draft review of round 1 of Season 22 Draft here with Thunder 1.1.

To make some things clear: I’m doing this just for fun but would like to share my opinions on each pick which might be different from somebody else. If one of you do not agree with me pls comment!
And of course I would like and appreciate some discussion in general on how to work the draftboard. With 96 players available espially newbies may need a few tips and hints.

And I’ll let you know how I’m doing it: At first I’m using some kind of formula (which represents STR/SPE/AGI/AGE/EXP/INT/TW/Trait with different values) but it is far from perfect as some positions are over- and some are undervalued. That’s why afterwards I go through each position and grad each player per round – this helps me to find the “best” 20-25 players which then are sorted by value and need on my own. That’s how I’m doing it.

But now BlaBlaBla is over and I’ll start with the review: I will use the grading system I’m used from school, so it is 1-5 with 1= “excellent” Pick and 5 = you know, the opposite from 1.
[as I got so many “5” during my school time I think I won’t use it – and I won’t rate Bots)

Pick #1 - #16

#1 Pick: Team 2.1.6 (Bot) selects WR Harald Bauer:
Well, somebody like me would have liked the combination of INT and TW but at 21 years and maybe bad physicals I wouldn’t have selected him in the first round. So nothing happened here.

#2 Pick: PGI Andorre Solutions s e l e c t K Gravois (former Leonard Gierzy?ski)
Would be very interesting whats your plan with him. Keeping at K? I’ve never seen a 4*EXP K so I don’t know if it’s that important… To be honest I wouldn’t have taken him here at #2 because there were a few other, overall better prospects. And there were some other good K in this Draft so I would have waited till the second round
Grade: 3

#3 Pick: Flow Gaming selects Raaj Sarha
Hmm, another difficult one. I prefer better INT for WR’s – on the other hand EXP is really nice and the physicls are OK – additionally the trait. But even if you had a big need at WR I would have taken another one (see pick 16 )
Grade: 3

#4 Pick: Kansas City Chiefs (Bot) selects QB Tod Ely
That’s a pitty, this was the best QB in this Draft on my opinion and had him quite high myself

#5 Pick: Prague Lions (Bot) selects K Mateisuva
Nothing to talk about

#6 Pick: Toledo Tigers selects LB Foy Tukana
Nothing to complain, the best prospect on my mind
Grade: 1

#7 Pick: Newcastle Knights selects DL Alexander Kruczek
Very interesting prospect – finally he was my Nr 2 after Tukana. Would like to know if he’s red capped which would be maybe a bit less for a natural D-Liner but with this nice INT he could easily become a great MLB (and DE too!)
Grade: 1

#8 Pick: 深圳合续 selects RB Arsenie Imoo
That’s difficult one again – on my mind the best RB but I had no single one with a first round grade at all. There were better prospects at all but of course one can argue about his biggest need. And if SPE is not red this might become a really great RB
Grade: 2

#9 Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers selects RB Zahit Saad
I would have avoided this low TW but maybe INT and EXP will make it. In comparison with #8 I see less upside her
Grade:3

#10 Pick: lionwings (bot) selects RB Arhipov
Maybe some value for third round but nothing more…

#11 Pick: Xu Da selects LB Kanyabugoyi
I’ve no problem at #11 with this guy even if it was a bit risky to see him red capped. Double trait, perfect INT is quite “nice”
Grade: 1

#12 Pick: true winners home selects CB Salim
Not a bad prospect but I had listed him at the end of the first round as of this bad TW. And I thought there was another better CB still available
Grade: 2,5

#13 Pick: Flerschem Fliegers selects TE König (former Johannes Eisler)
Great TE with bad TW
Grade: 2

#14 Pick: Chesterton Cheese selects LB Luc Laurence
Had him at Nr. 13 so nothing to complain. Hopefully he is not red capped
Grade: 1

#15 Pick: Bison City Nightcrew selects CB Folse (former Taufiq Issa)
Really cool CB – the best one on my mind
Grade: 1

#16 Pick: Basterds selects WR Choonhavan Jamaludin
I won’t grade myself, had him at Nr. 3 as I want to improve WR Position. Really like Age/INT/TW here – STR and SPE both red as expected

Pick #17 - #32

#17: SQALES selects WR Salmon (former Nathan Blair)
To be honest I’m not so happy with this one as INT and TW are big question marks
Grade: 3

#18: Parma Horses selects CB Murat
For me INT would have been the killer here, don’t know if EXP/Age can make it up
Grade: 2,5

#19 The Wolfe Pack selects WR Joshua Rajagopal
Difficult to judge as it is all depending on the Caps but there was no other WR’s left.. Really don’t know…
Grade: 2

#20: LM Pirates s e l e c t SF Turk
Nothing to complain, had him really high – maybe the best DB at all in this draft
Grade: 1

#21: Ville Vikings s e l e c t QB Griffin (former Brian Neubert)
If you were badly looking for a QB this pick may be OK, but I’m note sure on the physicals and on my mind there were at least one other – better – QB available
Grade: 3

#22: Amersfoort Alligators selects FB Kauppinen
Sorry mate but I don’t understand this pick – on my mind at least two better FB’s available…
Grade: 3

#23: Totoras Patriots selects OL Shariar
Well, that’s an interesting one and maybe a bit risky but he provides big upside if he caps late
Grade: 2

#24: Wild Thangs s e l e c t TE Calvert (former Malakai Luani)
OK, if you were looking for receiving options this was maybe the best remaining prospect. I’m still not happy about the physicals and Age/exp
Grade: 2

#25: Huchnall Broncos selects LB Emanuel (former Désiré Gatete)
Great value here, maybe age/exp combination is not perfect but overall a very nice prospect at Nr. 25
Grade: 1

#26: Severnside Cardinals selects OL Clough (former Maxim Itzhaki)
Great prospect, hopefully is not red capped (STR) – and that’s why I would have considered Baxter or Bumann here as they are not that risky
Grade: 2

#27: World famous Inbhir Narann selects DL Marquez
Great pick based on value, nothing to complain
Grade: 1

#28: Die Verdammten selects CB Zemskov
On my mind there were better DB’s available but that’s my mind. No problem with the prospect at all
Grade: 2

#29: Bogan Galaxy selects QB D’antuan
I’ve a bit headache about this TW but despite that one of the better QB prospects
Grade: 2

#30: SimKonville Fraggles selects OL Briciu
OK, don’t understand this one to be honest

#31: Deflators s e l e c t SF Sinapati
A bit gambling on physics?
Grade: 2

#32: Divers s e l e c t LB Habana
On my mind THE steal of this draft. Despite the low TW I had ranked him Nr. 7 so nothing to complain here

Grade: 1

Thanks for reading, if somebody would like to share his thoughts or thinks I'm stupid – feel free to comment!!

2nd round in short: Of course now it is getting difficult because there are so many ways how to look after this „not so perfect“ prospects. I’m pretty satisfied as I got again my 3rd Pick – again physicals red capped but I expected that already…

My 3rd round pick this year is maybe the first one who will land directly on TM – I just see only one remaining prospect I would like to get. All others are not worth mentioning (but of course could become impact players when capping late).

Great draft review. Really awesome stuff.

2 points I'd like to make about the draft:

1. There were 2-3 FBs that I rated higher than any RB. Anyone drafting for RB would have been better taking the higher skilled FBs and switching them to RB.

2. I believe that 4 exp kicker that got taken early had very high strength and good TW. With that experience he can sit 2-3 seasons and and train to become a monster OL with 4 Exp at 23-24 years old. Can also find speed cap and may get a DL out of it.

As for my first rounder it is rare to get a 50 speed 42 int combo. Check what they go for on TM. TW is 29 but he is 19 and already has 28 vision and positioning. I've already switched him to corner where his 41 strength is more than adequate. Very happy I got him.

Now my second rounder is already on the TM. Not as happy with what I got there as I took a player hoping physical weren't capped but were.

-1: Yes, also my thoughts but I wanted it to keep simple here
-2: Well it depends how somebody values EXP - but you're right. I had a 2nd round grade for him because of that
-Your first round pick: Fully agree - I had other plans based on need as I pointed out but it is crazy to get somebody at #32
-Your second rounder: On my mind this Draft wasn't really deep after maybe 40-45 prospects. Let's see if somebody was lucky...

The bid is already at 200k on that 2nd rounder so I may get value for that 64th pick yet.

Great work by Basterds.

I must admit that the Number 1 draft pick by a human was my third choice draftee. I would have had him remain as kicker as I find it hard to increase EXP in kickers and punters and with my current kicker generally good, he does miss too many FGs, my theory is that EXP on a kicker reduces nerves and makes him more consistent!

I was lucky that my first pick was my first choice, a good starting MLB.

My second choice went to Basterds themselves, again would have been a starter in my team and is probably good enough with a little training to become an elite level WR.

As for the second round I managed to get my 1st choice again (6th overall). This may not be most peoples choice but Aduladej will be a starting DL for my team - possibly drafted more because of a weakness in my team than because he is an outstanding player.

As for third round - pretty much any player would improve my team but my 1st choice is still my number 10 choice overall and I'm guaranteed a player in my top 60!

Interesting - I prefer much better physicals and that's why I picked Winchester with the second pick but OK - you got better TW and EXP
