Greetings,

I've been looking a bit for a summary of preferred skills by position. Does any such suggestion list exist? Obviously, the individual position descriptions but I was hoping for a beginners crib sheet to get started.

Thanks in advance.

Everyone on defense benefits from Intel, Vision, Positioning, and Tackling.

QB Intel, Str, Vision

rest of offense pretty mixed bag, but about what you would guess....

When the Season 2 Draft Board is available, you will get a good look at good players.

Welcome to RZA!

Everyone on def needs intelligence? Even the DT, DE? I thought it was pretty much the MLB and safety that need intel.

Well....

I am going by a small sample of highly skilled players....my Draft pool.

Please note - Admin has pointed out in another thread that my sample base is still quite small! You can probably safely assume a +/- 10% error at most/all of the positions.

After scouting (@Scout=20) those 96 players and plugging them into a spreadsheet, average INT ranked

#1 QB (Only 1 QB in my sample data base, but makes sense)
#2 LB (14 of them, so relatively good data base)
#3 WR (sample size =4, a bit random)
#4 P (sample size =6)
#5 K (sample size =2, pretty random, but correlates with P)
#6 DL (sample size =17)
#7 SF (sample size =5, a bit random)
#8 TE (sample size =1, so quite random)
#9 OL (sample size =18)
#10 G (sample size =9)
#11 FB (sample size =2, pretty random)
#12 CB (sample size =5, a bit random)
#13 RB (sample size =8)
#14 KR (sample size =6)

I don't think this is giving away much info, but if it is, Admin: Please clear it.

So:

Other than CBs. it looks to me as if INT is more important on Defense, overall, than Offense.

Since RB, FB, and KR are nicely grouped at the low end, you can probably get by with lower INT ball carriers than you can with low INT defenders.

DL and OL averages were only 1 point apart, so they could easily be reversed in importance, given the data size.

Yes but in your team players with good speed, average tackle and bad int have 2.5 stars as CB

Well, almost everyone has at least 2* at CB. The Game Engine rates everyone high at that position.

I would be surprised to see a DT or DE need high intelligence. I mean that position is just, see the qb, hit the qb or see the rb hit the rb. Doesn't take much brain power to play those two positions. LB? Absolutley, especially mlb. Olb to a lesser degree. Saftey for sure. Cb more so than a d linemen. I mean that is how it would play out in the real world.

I guess my High School coach knew what he was doing when he put me at DE.......
