I understand about the no name calling but to have someone crowing about their "accomplishment", which basically has been a long term complete abuse of the game, is a little too much to take. If it ever has a serious effect on my team, I'll be finished here completely. I hope it doesn't happen as this is my favourite by far. Seeing the same person trying to defend the indefensible falls on deaf ears here.

second that. "cause and effect". The moment i read the self-praise post it felt like taunting on players who struggled with playing the game by the rules.

Instead of feeding such managers, you could have ignored this "I am a great manager" call. Maybe someone has a clean idea how to solve the situation from an engines point of view, maybe someone can think about how we can tell a machine to deal with this. I mean, the first idea was working as well, this was confirmed a few posts above. Why not repeating this success with a great idea, instead of posting more or less useless "you are not great" posts

Two slightly different topics going on here, lol.

I agree with Mucke and lions1934 as far as the taunting goes. I've been pretty quiet about Stan this season, but had to laugh about him bragging about nothing. His post just begs for responses. Plus there was no name calling that I saw, so

My longer post was more or less responding to Mucke making this into a bot topic. I agree with him, but that thread he linked already brought up some good ideas, and there simply won't be a fix for it in the short term. Not much else to say.

Calling a pig 'a pig' is not name calling - its a statement of fact.

A lot of managers play the game the right way and spend a lot of time respecting the efforts that is put into it by the makers and their peers. Win or lose.

Someone comes along and outrageously/flagrantly looks to abuse the game, causing huge effect on the divisions and leagues they are in, continues to do it season in, season out, then essentially laughs and brags about it - and you are surprised when he gets some minor flaming for it?

You want a suggestion as to how to stop it? Boot them from the game sending the message that tanking is not tolerated here, and look to stand with the majority rather than defend the minority.

Wow.

I thought this thread was dead. Guess it had one last tantrum in it.

My thoughts one the last few pages? Stan, who shall henceforth not be mentioned, tanked (in the sence, didnt put the best team on the field) and then stepped on even more toes by bragging about it, and in my opinion, got the responce he wanted.

We clearly cant bully him out of here, so what options do we have? My suggestion is to silent treat him. My future MOTYs will also be reserved for lord Voldemort.

And finally, I guess we should just accept that some play by the patriot standards (if you aint cheating, you aint trying), and beat them by playing harder than them (Jenkins hit on Cooks way).

Now, let this dead thread die.

sweet, now it sounds like a preparation for friendlies. some would say it was tanking in the sense of losing games on purpose.
ok, other might say: not on purpose, just unlucky, wondering how badly OOP-penalty kicked in when using weired depth charts ... multiple times ... knowing 4 bot games in my season schedule would back up my season half way.

but yes, i'm in favor to end this debate here and move on.

Before closing this chapter, fodder for a new horse appreciated:

Pete, would you please explain which situation you mean exactly, for which you are in search of a clean engine based solution?

My last thoughts on this are where obvious tanking is taking place, either give that team the 32nd pick in the draft each round or withdraw the picks completely and have 31 teams pick.
I'm not a reactionary person per se and have plenty of real life problems to deal with, but I wouldn't accept this type of behaviour from my granddaughter. Luckily she's been brought up better than that.
I will reiterate that this is my favourite game by far, which is why I don't like it being tainted like this.
Rant over.
