Playoff semifinals
KNIGHTS VS HUMMINGBIRDS The underdog Hummingbirds caused an upset as they beat the knights 27 - 34. The game looked like a normal romp for the Knights as they took an early lead, then the Hummingbirds hit back with a 2nd quarter display of power offense. The 2nd half started in a stalemate as both teams struggled to move the ball into scoring position. The Knights finally put up a fight in the 4th quarter, but the Hummingbirds held on for the win. MVP - Boyd Darroch QB - Hummngbirds SPACE KRAKEN VS OILERS Another win for the underdogs as the Oilers win 10 - 17. This was a defensive coaches dream as both defenses shut down the opposing offense. The Space Kraken QB was sacked 5 times and the Oilers QB sacked 9 times in a bruising encounter. Oilers got first blood with a touchdown in the 1st quarter and limited the Sapce Kraken to just a field goal. Then the defenses kicked it up a gear until the late in the 2nd half when the Oilers scored again. The chants of "RELEASE THE KRAKEN" were loud and long, but the Space Kraken could only manage a 4th quarter touchdown. MVP - Milford Sparks LB - Space Kraken So the final will see the Oiler vs the Hummingbirds as they fight for their first friendly trophy. Good games guys |

Congratulations ablefty, a well deserved win for your team.
But I'm still very happy with the performance of my team. It was a good fight.

FINAL GAME
OILERS VS HUMMINGBIRDS What an epic game as we saw the Oilers win 33-30 in overtime. The first quarter had the Hummingbirds dominate as they took a 10 point lead but they could only manage 2 field goals in the 2nd quarter. The Oilers scored 14 points to keep the score close at half time. The 3rd quarter was a ding dong battle as neither team could open up a lead. The Oilers scored 10 points in the 4th and the Hummingbirds only scored 7 to tie the game up and enter the lottery of overtime. The Oilers win the toss and choose to receive the ball. They drove down the field and scored a 45 yard field goal to win the game. MVP - Emiliano Masiero RB - Hummingbirds Congrats to the Oilers for winning the Friendly cup and to the Hummingbirds for putting up a great fight. I hope you all had fun and I will set another cup for this season, so watch this space. |
