I'm STILL put-off from a big game in which my opponent played a 3* Linebacker @ WR - result: 7 Catches / 55 Yards / 0 Drops / TD.
This really should not happen. |

That I understand, but isn't it even usual in the NFL to play certain players on different positions? I remember Week 1 of the current season when the Chiefs visited the Cardinals and the Safety of KC had to play Kicker. And players like Deebo Samuel wouldn't be such a force if they were relegated to only play WR.
Since I did not find any information about it: What is the actual penalty for OOP right now? Last edited on 2022-10-01 18:56:44 by Chrill |

Check out my game tonight https://redzoneaction.org/football/index.php?page=yourteam&subpage=matchshowstats_o&matchid=101028040
My team vs 1 WR, 1 RB, 1 OL, 1 K, 1 KR and the rest of the squad (50+?) are all DL Do you really think the stats are realistic for two DLs playing QB? Some DLs are apparently great at rushing too! DLs are good at catching! One DL is a great P! And one is great at blocking! Plus the WR and the OL did not play. To me this makes a nonsense of the game |

I would like to point out one thing that may have been neglected on this discussion. We need to separate the assigned position and the skills each player has. I did not checked any specific player but maybe some of those DL have high values on other skills (CAT or CAR for example). Those skills are used on the play by play calculation and have a big impact on the outcome. I believe that the OOP penalty lowers those values but in some cases it is not enough to turn a player useless to play OOP.

I gotta admit I've never noticed that before.

To me this makes a nonsense of the game I don't believe any of the proposed changes would even impact this situation you're describing, because my understanding is that as a new player his players are likely all enjoying the "free position switch" period. To fix this (if it is indeed an issue), we just need to make every player who is on their free position switch automatically benefit from the team's best AC during training, to avoid the necessity of such shenanigans. |

Since I played a game yesterday against a highly decorated and very good (= high ELO) opponent, I looked up his roster. I noticed that, apart from having a "normal" offense with QB, WR, RB, TE and OL, his almost ENTIRE defense consists of LBs. And his Special Teams Unit is, aside from a Kicker, non-existent.
Another team with high ELO in my league has again a "normal" offense, but the defense is nearly only LBs and A LOT of DLs, too. And again: no special teams players but ONE punter. It seems that playing personell OOP makes you very successful ![]() |

I think we should leave kicker punters out of the equation. The game doesn't have to bow to realism in every facet, and kicker/punter combos are a cool achievement for a GM, and the kind of thing that sets RZA apart from other simulators.
Save the Kicker Punters!! Thank you ![]() Edit: don't make me roster a KR or G either, please! K thanks Last edited on 2022-10-02 14:24:34 by Maynard |

As I have already written in many posts before this: the HAMBURG SEA LIONS are rebuilding their entire squad right now, with the emphasis in this season being on the defensive side of the ball.
We have a lot players playing who are not that good, but some key positions on the defense are still occupied with very good players (high EXP, fully developed STR and SPE, non-physical skills in the 40s)... albeit out of position. The one player that is causing me serious headache is a DL, 28yo, playing Strong Safety. 4,5* rating, 5* EXP, STR @44, SPE @49, TAC @44, VIS @43... POS @39, which, granted, is not great, and INT @37... but overall projected to be a 4.5* SF, too. Still he's missing tackles more than he's making, and in now two games played in the Supercup 6 of those missed tackles resulted in Pass-TDs for 53yds, 52yds, 6yds, 66yds, 92yds, 81yds... and possibly more, as 3 additional Pass-TDs were scored with "no defensive back around to tackle" the ballcarrier. I do get that the out-of-position-penalty will prevent you from winning a championship, as it is written in the manual somewhere (I did not find the relevant paragraph, sadly)... but having a player becoming totally useless once he's not playing the position he's assigned to, despite having the abilities to play the one he's set in the depth chart to play, and every other passing play now becoming a TD scored (as in our latest game, where the QB of the opposing team had 13 completions, 5 of them TDs for 407 yards through the air), is pretty annoying. Is the simple solution to assign the player to the new position to have him play it right? |
