It would add a new side to playbook, if it was possible to pick players for certain tactics. I don't know the details of the algorithms in the code, obviously, but I am sure certain players assigned the same position are better qualified for specific tasks than others, even if on average they have comparable quality.
For example, FB can be either a carrier, or a blocker in a specific play. I'd happily pick FB with Slippery trait over Pass Blocking, if the tactics indicated in my Playbook gave preference to low over high play by QB, even though I don't have control over, and in fact it would be more likely, that the target picked was HB, not FB. Another example is blitz play, which, I believe, would gain by giving preference to speed/agility over strength. Let me stress - the above is about the game. I am sure it would open new opportunities, which I personally would enjoy. I DON'T KNOW how would this compare with the real life. For example, if a team switches a defender known for his knack for blitzing, I believe it might warn the other team what's cooking (and the surprise factor might very well be of so much more importance, that no coach would take that risk just for the minor advantage of one or the other player). Although, at least back when I was more regularly watching NFL, it was quite common to replace at least a QB, and I think one of the factors may have been the advantage of one over the other based on potential for successful rush (with a couple of yards left to the endzone). But I stress that this is my speculation, not based on something I've read/heard somewhere. Potential downsides: - I understand very well, that this might require much too substantial code modifications. - I am aware that in the light of what I am writing in the paragraph above, it might make this suggestion completely baseless (yes - I mean stupid ![]() - I also consider it possible, that even if the two possible negative sides listed above are not really a factor - there may be still other reasons the suggestion is to be turned down (eg. it would affect what players got used to, or it's simply not along how Pete envisions his ideal of the game and it's HIS game. He has the right not to envision it this way. Plain and simple.) Nevertheless, just in case neither of the 3 potential downsides (and the unknown to me but possible many others) makes it impossible - I am placing this as a suggestion. ps. I apologise if the above was already proposed and turned downed before. I have scrolled through the first few pages of the Suggestions family of threads, but stopped short of scrolling through 100 older ones. Last edited on 2023-01-17 14:17:39 by jpnwrt |

I am sorry to shot this down. Reason: please search for "dark wing formation".
Again, I am sorry, but there is no room for this in my plan. |
