Week 1 - Long Way to go for Youthful Wednesday Side
A slightly new look Owls side took to the field for the start of Season 55. Wednesday are in the middle of a slow rebuild, but there was some raw exciting talent on show. Renewed Hostilities with league rival Ghost of Bautzen (Now renamed Aratana Hajimari) kicked off the season in Japanand the Fuyu Arena. The Hajimari have always tended to have the upper hand over Wednesday with 8 wins out of their last 10 meetings. Both squads have seen better days, both currently having Squads under 70 Overall Rating. Wednesday have lost the last 7 meetings between the 2 sides including 1 Playoff Game. This was to be no different. Three first half Touchdowns was all that was needed to put the Sheffielders to sleep as Damions troops ran all over the Owls Defensive Line. Wednesday rallied with 3 Field Goals in the 2nd Half but Turnovers once again cost them dear. Final : Sheffield Wednesday 9-24 Aratana Hajimari QB Edgaras Balandis 29/46 229yrds 0 TD 2INT RB Chad Butcher 8 Carries 56 Yards 0 TD WR Jose Castro 7 Catches 54 Tards 0 TD 2 Sacks (Adams, Gunn) 1 INT (Clough) K Mika Higgins 3/3 Longest 51 Yards |

Management declares Finances are back under control
In a press release this afternoon the Sheffield Wednesday ownership declared that their finances were back under control. Season 54 saw many of the Owls top stars leave after the club lost £130 million over 2 seasons. Weekly Accounts didnt balance as inflated wages drained the coffers. The owners noticed this early in Season 54 and there were concerns Wednesday wouldn't be able to invest the £50 million required for the Media Centre Payment. Focus now turns to rebuilding the team with a more sustainable Wage Budget. The goal to reach Elite remains the same - with a target set of Season 60. |

The Corsairs Management, living a similar situation, are glad that Sheffield Management has restored the economy.
We tried a slightly different route when we had 127M in the red during season 53 and 54. Tried to cut costs and keep a great team, but 36M in the red during season 55 showed us that we had to cut everything, similar to what Sheffield has done. Best wishes! |

Form eludes Wednesday
It has been a slow start to the season for Wednesday who dropped to a disappointing Super Cup defeat in midweek. Swedish outfit Oakbeach FC ran out comfortable 24-14 winners despite on paper at least Sheffield being a far stronger side. Wednesday followed this with a slender 31-30 friendly win over Sea Devils rivals Geneva Lions, who also on paper are a weaker side. Finally on Saturday Wednesday ran out 117-0 winners in a BOT STOMP to move to 2-1 for the League Season. The schedule gets much more difficult in the coming weeks for Wednesday however with the visit of Spanish Side Bonaval Acorns (68.9%) in the SuperCup before the Dirty Ducks (67.8%) visit Hillsborough Stadium. On current form 2 defeats look likely. |

A quackers 2nd Quarter gave The Ducks a moral boosting win over Wednesday. The Owls had started the tie well, leading The Ducks 14-3 with an early touchdown in the 2nd. What followed was 3 uninterrupted Touchdowns for The Ducks and Wednesday couldnt recover. Week 5 - Wednesday 48 @ 20 Konjarnik High Towers
A strong first half was enough for The Wednesday to see off Uleros High Towers. Wednesday recovered from their previous weeks defeat to The Ducks with an expected win over Konjarnik. It was a defensive master class in the first half from Wednesday with THREE Interceptions returned for touchdowns. Cornerback Howard Clough a recent signing from Idaho Idlers had a 72 Yard return and a 59 Yard return in the 1st Quarter. Lineback Neal Chestnut also returned a 35 Yard Interception in the 2nd quarter helping Wednesday to a 27-0 1st half lead. The Second half was disappointing by comparison as Wednesday allowed 20 points - however the Interceptions werent over, with long time Wednesday stalwart Milton Hradil returning another Interception for a Touchdown QB - Balandis 48/78 437yd 3TD 1INT WR - Mendoza 17 Catches 174 Yrds 2TD DST - Clough 2 INT 2 DTD DST - Chestnut 1 INT 1DTD DST - Hradril 1INT 1DTD |
