Hi, I would like to ask how the salaries work? Specifically I am interested in why is there often such a huge difference on TM between current wage and wage after transfer?
Its probably most visible at lower wages, but the game often shows huge differences - 15k now, 60k after .. 13k now, 85k after .. 20k now, 70k after etc.. so its not 10, 20, 30%, but even 400 or 500%.. I know some teams negotiate the salaries and that it should be cheaper than autosign, but I thought it shouldnt be such a big difference. So are there some other factors? Like team strength, how old the team is, league level or anything else that has some influence when it comes to salaries? |

The difference where it’s large is because you set the contract at a point in time and it lasts a duration during which time the player improves. The wage now is for a contract now. For a short contract it’s probably not a significant difference, but you can have a 4 season contract and then the difference can be very large.

The wage calculation is in the manual. It’s based upon the best two trainable stats except strength and speed.
It accelerates as the stats get higher so improving the stats several points when it’s over 40 can double the salary. Last edited on 2025-04-19 21:25:19 by JohnHW |

So there are no other factors, its just that the player probably has like 3 seasons already on the same contract, so when he gets traded, he signs a much better new contract based on his current skills? And his salary is low, because he signed it when his skills were much worse than they are now?

From the manual - look in the help menu - “ On a successful transfer of a player between two human teams, the player wage gets recalculated based on the actual skills, and if you own the HR department, you can renegotiate the players immediately.”
The manual also has the pay formula. Experience is also a factor. Some editing there because autocorrect is not always correct ![]() Last edited on 2025-04-20 14:16:47 by JohnHW |

Keep in mind, that players from the pool are sometimes over seasons not with a team.
Their old wage is what they got initially or on their last contract and from that on training happened until they were dropped. The expected wage is the base wage calculated on the 2 highest non-physical skills or agi (see manual) and if you have a HR department that can be reduced by some %. But the high jumps between current and expected are all based on the difference they had in skill values between their last contract and the new one. Just ignore the current value, it does not help in any way on the transfer market. |
