![]() Source: https://tillfelix.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/rza_s63_derby-week_interview.jpg SDSC: Hello, Joe Chrill, and thank you for your time. Today is Derby time in the NC Conference Division North, with the St Pauli Packers coming to visit. It is called out as the Sea Devils Match of the Week, so a lot of eyes are on Hammer Sports Park today. How do you prepare for such an occasion? Joe Chrill: It’s great to be here. You can feel the energy in the city today — this is what football in the North is all about. Preparation for a game of this magnitude is about filtering out the noise. Our neighbors from St. Pauli spent the week writing poetry and posing for studio photos, but we don't play the game on paper. We look at the reality. In Week 4, they had to use their season’s worth of extra "Match of the Year" adrenaline just to beat us by six points at home. Since then, we’ve gone on a tear, taking care of business against tough opponents like the Sailors and the Distance Runners. We trust our consistency. We aren't worried about "obituaries"; we’re healthy, we’re at home, and we’re going to let the scoreboard do the talking. SDSC: You're referencing their interesting photos... this clearly seems to be a fantasy shot. I mean... they won't even be wearing their home attire in Hammer Sports Park tonight, am I wrong? Joe Chrill: You’re absolutely right. If they show up in their home brown and red, they’re going to have a very confusing equipment check. It’s ironic: their manager is so focused on a "controlled demolition" narrative that he’s imagining a game in a stadium that isn't ours, wearing colors that don't match the itinerary. If they want to dress up as "Giants" in a studio, that’s their business. Tonight, they’ll be in their away green, facing a Sea Lions squad that is 100% comfortable in its own stadium. It’s hard to claim you’re "executing relentlessly" when you can’t even get the game location or the jersey schedule right. SDSC: You already won the division last season, taking first place from the Packers in Week 13 and entering the playoffs as the #2 seed. Some fans are already rooting for a repeat of that this season. Joe Chrill: That’s the beauty of the North—the fans have a long memory. Last season proved it’s not about who leads in Week 4; it’s about who has the stamina to finish in Week 17. The pressure isn't on us; it's on the team that has been looking over its shoulder since the season started. We’ve been here before. We have the better Point Differential because we’ve been more dominant across the board. Our neighbor’s manager talked a lot about "hollow roars," but the only thing hollow is his one-win lead. Tonight, we erase that gap and take back the #1 spot. We don't need to repeat history; we just need to execute in the present. SDSC: Thank you, Joe, and good luck to you tonight. Joe Chrill: Thank you. We’ll see you on the field. The North is waiting, and we’re ready to show everyone that the only "inevitable" thing tonight is the work we put in between the lines. Go Sea Lions! ![]() |
