I think it's due to his physical attributes. The AI rightly identified a need for training there. The fact that you might not pay attention to that because "he's just a punter" isn't something the AI considers. It treats that aspect the same way it would for offensive linemen or linebackers. Draftgrades don't lie! I think it's more likely that the AI assessed them at the DL position, because I initially assigned them to my DL coach. The punter has 27 SPD and couldn't tackle a flea. The CB has 40.6 STR. But who knows unless the AI explains its rationale. I wouldn't worry about it too much, because I'd also love to hear AI's Rationale as to why It thinks the Falcons are going to win the AC North. At this point I don't buy it that AI is going you take our jobs anytime soon. |

Exiles view on Draft order 1-8
Teams picking 1-8 have a decent chance to grab several starters. I won’t go through each team in detail. This is more of a general commentary, raising a few points that will hopefully be interesting – points you may not agree with! AI draft grades (Chrill's post): 1 : A+ (Falcons) 2 : A+ (Cheetahs) 3 : A (Chargers) 4 : A+ (Bungals) 5 : B+ (Seals) 6 : A- (Coconuts) 7 : A- (Centvrions) 8 : B (Raptors) Pick 4 – I think most agree that Gapparov was the best player in the draft, whether at LB, DL, or CB. So, I’m surprised he didn’t go 1-3 as those picks where all on defence. A major coup for the Bungals. That said, the first three players taken were worthy of Round 1, with both Erenio and Palacios in my top 10. The AI gives Raptors a B grade. I think they were A. Even if pick 8 Rios turns out to have a SPD cap at 45.4, I’d put him at MLB as his TW at 34 is low for DL. In Round 2, WR Ortega looks really good value. I also think Centvrions deserved higher than A-. Great value picks in Rounds 2 and 3. Three for the roster and maybe starting right away. Draftees with SPD, STR at 40-45 risk quite a low red cap, making them high risk picks. At 5, DL Stollar looks a big reach. It’s up to the fates as to whether training camp will see a major boost to his SPD and STR (I see he's training at CB, so maybe just SPD needed). One strategy to deal with the STR, SPD low-red-cap risk is to pick 2-3 players at the same position, if that position is vital. We saw this lower down the draft but to some degree, also, at 1-8. Picking 1, Falcons took two WRs, at 5 Seals took a WR and TE. A bit more weirdly, Cheetahs took two punters. Top class linemen – DL or OL - were in short supply, in my view – none having both smarts and TW >40. (Does this matter?) But if you needed OL, Hoyt was a decent pick at 7 (Centvrions) and Hassan excellent value at 36 (Bungals again). Falcons – good picks but missed Gapparov Cheetahs – two good picks but missed Gapparov and took two punters Chargers – R1 & R3 good, but missed Gapparov. R2 OL INT is low Bungals – great draft Seals – high risk DL in R1 but very good R2 & 3 Coconuts – R1 good, but I’d be concern with the R2 INT and R3 TW Centvrions – great draft Raptors – great R1 & 2. R3 OL poor smarts and TW but may fill a hole OK, that’s it. With a bit of luck, 9-16 to follow sometime this week. Last edited on 2026-03-10 09:47:02 by StuartW |

Exiles view on Draft order 9-16
In some leagues, picking 9-16 gives a great chance of getting a starter, but not so in Sea Devils where so few bots and teams picking are strong (elo range 572-765). AI draft grades (Chrill’s post): 1 : A+ (Vajda Ga – gone!) 2 : A (Blue Crabs) 3 : A+ (Silver Foxes) 4 : B+ (Convicts) 5 : B (Hampsters) 6 : B+ (Minotaurs) 7 : B- (Torresina) 8 : B- (Warhawks – moved to Claymore) If you read my review of picks 1-8, you’ll know that I regard 40-45 STR or SPD as a risky Round 1 pick – if the position requires higher stats. Case in point was my R1 pick, a punter with 40.8 STR, which turned out to be a red cap! Falling into this risk category were the Vajda Gu, Silver Foxes, and Warhawks R1 picks. Silver Foxes would no doubt point to DL Omar’s 50 STR, though I wonder whether Omar has the TW for DL. By the way, I do wonder whether my wish for TW of 40+ for linemen (OL and DL) is wise or wrong-headed. Interested to hear other opinions. In my view, the best R1 picks were DL Lama to Crabs, and CB Beck to the Minotaurs. Lower down, I liked the Warhawks R2 & R3, Torresina’s amazing value pick of FB Paongo at 79, OL Ibern to the Crabs in R2, WR Carlson to the Minotaurs at 46. Vajda Gu – disagree with the A+ Blue Crabs – really good draft: DL Lama number 6 on my list Silver Foxes – DL Omar may turn out well, but then he might not. Risky draft? Convicts – solid draft. CB Seghal decent at CB but I like higher INT Hampsters – I worry about CB Ayasha’s INT but R2 DL Ukhurlian worth the risk Minotaurs – Liked it. CB Beck excellent, R2 WR Carlson also – if he ups SPD a bit Torresina – OL Lauridsen low TW concern but top STR/INT. FB Paongo R3 steal Warhawks – QB Sesay a big reach in R1, OL in R2 & R3 could be good 17-24 to follow in a day or three… |

Exiles view on Draft order 17-24
Difficult to get an immediate starter of any quality here, with most teams strong and the best picks probably gone. The AI generally allocated lower draft grades here. Simply less quality on offer. Managers of these teams have generally been round the block for multiple seasons, have their own opinions on what works and doesn’t work and are probably part of the crowd still searching under lamp posts for the answer (picks 25-32 share the same story). AI draft grades (Chrill’s post): 1 : B- (Storm) 2 : B+ (Sea-Reapers)) 3 : C+ (Spartans) 4 : F (Sea-Owls) 5 : D+ (Foxes) 6 : D (Silverbacks) 7 : C- (Conquerors) 8 : C (Manta Rays) First, a really interesting draft strategy: multiple picks at one position. Northern Storm took 3 QBs, and Manta Rays drafted 3 WRs, though their R3 Juan Carlos Company has moved to RB. I’m not sure that any of Storm’s QBs have the brains to be a top starter. You’ll be lucky to find a recruit with starting physicals and good mental traits by this stage, so the Sea-Reapers did really well to pick up LB Ivory Wolf at 18 (my 16). He even changed his name to suit their sponsors. A couple of interesting QBs taken in Round 1. High INT - but may or may not develop the physicals to become elite players: Sharif to the Sea Owls at 20 and Michalczweski (almost impossible to type his new name quickly) to the Conquerors at 23. The Round 3 steal was TE Olsen to the Spartans. My 27, he went at 83. Trust to luck that he can add a touch more SPD for WR, or STR for TE. Manta Ray’s pick 88 was 49 on my list. Another bargain. Storm – I like the strategy, but concern for the INT levels of those QBs Sea-Reapers – super draft, with Wolf the standout Spartans – Good picks in R1 and R3. R2 Vavra might be better away from QB Sea-Owls – Can’t agree with the AI’s F grade. QB Sharif interesting Foxes – solid picks R1 & R2. KR Okriashvili could make a mark Silverbacks – WR McBride good value at pick 22. Good physicals and EXP Conquerors – excellent draft, particularly if R2 CB Bajoo not yellow or red on SPD Manta Rays – good draft, though up to the fates as to whether WRs SPD are capped OK, just 25-32 left to do... |

Exiles view on Draft order 25-32
This is the scavenger zone – inhabited by franchises with elo >900. Teams, who made the rookie error of trying to gain promotion the previous season, have to pick over the scraps. These are the mangers who might send hopeful begging letters to Mr Pete to give the draft a makeover – all binned with regret. AI draft grades (Chrill’s post): 1 : D- (Corsairs) 2 : C- (Warriors) 3 : D+ (Exiles) 4 : C (Packers) 5 : D- (Sea Lions) 6 : F (Tigers) 7 : F (High Towers) 8 : F (Runners) In a league as strong as the Sea Devils, there’s always a fair chance none of the 25-32 draftees will end up with a roster spot (unless the team is going through a rebuild). That said, all of the R1 picks this time round look pretty reasonable, and some could have gone quite a bit higher in the draft. Corsairs landed top K prospect Donn Reed, WR Simms was super value at 26 to the Warriors, OL Lehmann might turn out well at the Packers if he can beef up a bit, OL Dau at the Sea Lions is an off-the-shelf hulk but maybe lacks a bit of TW, WR Logan Russell has already netted the Tigers $3 million on the TM, CB Hossein was a bit of a steal for the Runners at 32 (albeit a raw talent and already 22). In R2 and R3, these teams had to take a major risk with SPD and STR, and often INT and TW were lower than you’d like. Case in point is R2 SF Schroder to the Packers. I’d be surprised if he has the smarts to make a roster place on defence. Corsairs – Landed a decent K, Shott in R2 could be a TE or WR if things go well Warriors – WR Simms a steal. RB Shah might make it Exiles – R1 punter already starting despite feared weak-leg trait. SPD, STR risk at R2 & R3 Packers – R1 OL might make the roster. Doubts over SF Schroder Sea Lions – Good value R1 & R2. Even R3 Higgenbotham might develop into a player Tigers – R1 WR Russell excellent. R2 OL Isa might struggle with the play calls High Towers – R1 DL Pavlovic lacks TW but could play at CB or maybe LB if SPD increases Runners – R1 CB Hossein super value. Also R2 QB Eun-A-Hyeon at 64 (my 42). Good draft |

Yeah, I picked best in my group. 🧀🏴☠️
In such high draft regions, I try to make solid picks. No one helps me in the first seasons, not even Ruslan. So it’s about finding players who will become SF3 or OL6 in the medium term. I can’t remember the draft ever getting this much attention. In that business I’m usually more on the Youth Academy team. But this season it was fun reading all of it. When Chrill said they had created their draft order using AI, I asked them if they could also quickly generate draft grades with it. They could. How did you do that, Stuart? |
