I'm hoping that somebody recognises this problem/issue and has an easy/quick fix for it.

I did the CSV Player Download spreadsheet, and I noticed that 4 of my player names had a weird black diamond character, I cross-checked against the actual player names and this is something to do with special letters/accents etc.

The only thing I can think of which has changed is that I recently upgraded from Open Office 3.3 to Open Office 3.4.

The characters that aren't being recognised/displayed properly are :-

(1) The Eszett .... I'm pretty sure the German guys will know what I mean here
(2) Umlaut (above an 'a' in this case)
(3) some kind of acute accent/diacritic above an 'i' for an Argentinian player .... so I guess this is a Spanish acute accent/diacritic
(4) the same as (3) but above an 'O' for an Icelandic player.

I've had a quick look at the various settings/options in Open office, but I don't see anything obvious.

When importing the CSV s e l e c t "Western Europe (ISO-8859-15/EURO)" instead of UTF-8 as character set. That should do the trick.
Let me know if this is not working for you.
