The Game Of The Week this week is presented by Toni Gorilla, in honor of his friend Kottan, who is on a brief vacation from RZA, and who will return in the near future to take over his brainchild again.
The GOTW is Heidelberg Hippos at San Diego Blitzkrieg!!! Introduction of the teams: Hippos are a juggernaut. Arriving in S.D. with the 3rd best pass offense and 2nd best rush offense, the Hippos are not here for a pillow fight. Although the Hippos general manager bellj refers to his team as being "cute, cuddly and innocent" no one, I repeat: no one, on this side of the ocean is fooled by this misleading and ludicrous statement. These Hippos are carnivores and are used to walking through knuckle-deep blood. They own the league record win margin since game day 3, when they annihilated the Ramdozers 101:21 on home soil. Hippos won the Galaxy Bowl in season 4, but have always been among the top contenders, year in year out. Their passing is lead by Saeed Akunyili, albeit he's one of 3 QB to share snaps. The main target man being Dennis Schneider, who totals 483 yards (21 yards average) with 5 scores. Their rushing is equally strong, with 3 RB carrying the ball over 260 yards to date. The team trying to stop them are the notorious S.D. Blitzkrieg, led by legendary manager Solana_Steve. As their name suggests, the Blitzkrieg is not on a peace mission, but is rather into inflicting maximum damage in minimum time. The Blitzkrieg have clinched the Galaxy title, too, in season 3 and won an additional 3 Friendly Cups. Although their defense is still a bit rusty this season, it is traditionally recognized as being as one of the finest throughout RZA world, sporting an astonishing 59.6% on rush defense and an ass-kicking 62.3% on pass defense. Christian Luna is anchoring the line, while the LB corps surrounding main man Lewis Wertz (4 Int) is responsible for smashing anything into the turf that goes past it. Last but not least, the secondary is terrific, led by CB Danny Ryder, who picked the opposition 3 times, returning one of those picks for a score. Both teams are representing the NC East, according to Toni Gorilla (quoting myself here...) the toughest division in all of RZA. The odds are hinting towards a Hippos win, but the Blitzkrieg got home field advantage and cannot afford a 3rd loss so early in the season. However, although Blitzkrieg struggled before in regular season, they always do manage to come back strongly in the playoffs, and on a good day, they can beat any team any day. I'm hoping Kottan will be back from vacation soon and carry on creating write-ups of GOTW. I only wish a few more managers would comment and discuss. @ Solana_Steve: a "Tiefstabler" is an understated person, someone, that does not brag about his achievements. The dictionary uses the term "sandbagger". |

Yes, definitely an excellent write-up. You must have done quite a bit of research to get all the stats in there too.
That being said, my cute, cuddly and innocent Hippos don't really like to be in the spot light. We were hoping to sneak into the playoffs without anyone really noticing. Regarging the game, I expect the Blitzkrieg team to win, and especially the second half should be dominated by the big mean Blitzkrieg machine. (The Hippos physical condition is quite low right now.) |

Wow, that was a clobbering. No one expected this scoreline. Although it was a fairly close 358 vs 304 yards, the Hippos managed to produce 42 points more than Blitzkrieg.
