Stop being nice Holmeboy... I meant any other division in Sea Devils 1.1

Seriously though, the Fappers are a decent team, consistently looking at a record between 11-5 and 9-7, but yet to make the jump. Nobody can afford to take them lightly, but equally, nobody can expect them to consistently beat any of the teams in the top 7 (plus the Bats). Sure, they will pull off some shocks - however it is when those wins cease to be shocks that they know they have made the step up.

It can be done though - look at the way GCB suddenly turned it on when it mattered last season. And there was Venice a couple of seasons ago.

Thats a fair enough assessment. And I agree that they're very good but would struggle to win consistently against top teams. But Fappers were finalists not too long ago and in a division like mine which isnt super competitive a win v me on the day and a MOTY could be all it would take.

A division with Hippos/Warriors/Brisbane for example I think is too competitive...]

edit: I suppose I don't think they wouldn't consistently win any other division

Tell me about it!

1. Solihull Moors 5-0 (=) They didn't get beat. OK, so they didn't play, but that's a moot point.

2. Leeds Celtics 5-1 (+3) It was close for a long time against the Hippos due to repeated redzone failures by Leeds, until a sloppy 4th quarter by Huddersfield, the stats tell a tale though.

3. Naprzod Marsz 5-0 (+3) 41-0 against Venice! Naprzod are far from a spent force.

4. Botev Plovdiv 6-0 (-1) Made to work far too hard by a spirited Paradise side

5. Lucea Cardinals 4-1 (-1) bye

6. Huddersfield Hippos 5-1 (-4) Took big risks in the 4th quarter, but the scoreline reflected the yardage. Leeds tried their best not to score repeatedly in the 1st 3 quarters.

7. Monster Piskots 5-1 (=) Another of the top teams to win big, dealt a hammering to tumbling Raccoons.

8. Gotham City Bats 4-2 (+1) A hard fought win, ultimately adding more woe to The Swiss who will be starting to wonder where it went wrong.

9 Firenze Fappers 3-2 (+1) Gain a place on their bye week, due to the misfortunes of others... schadenfreude I think they call it.

10. Sacramento XSV 3-3 (+5) With the schedule they've had, their manager must be delighted to be 50-50

11 Idrosburghi Verona
12 Gladiators
13 Chrzanow Grizzlies
14 Brisbane Meteors
15 Vipers

Hey since you do a lot of analysis on the matchups for the power rank each game day, maybe you can do add a match of the day? Keep up the rankings, its a blast to read (even if I am up and down like a roller coaster).

Sorry for missing a round, been a tad busy, and that is unfortunately likely to happen more often (unfortunate for the rankings, but not for my pocket, starting a new job soon)

1) Solihull Moors 7-0 (=) Yeah I know it's boring... but 50 TDs for, just 2 against, good offense, great defense, what's there to criticise?

2) Botev Plovdiv 8-0 (+2) You know what, I think he does care a bit this season, and I can't wait for a showdown with the Moors, sadly that can only be in the playoffs!

3) Leeds Celtics 7-1 (-1) Possibly being harsh on my team, but we were unable to convert total dominance into many points against the Gladiators!

4) Naprzod Marsz 7-0 (-1) Conceded a total of 4 FGs and 0 TDs in the last 4 games, ruthless efficiency.

5) Lucea Cardinals 6-1 (=) 6 on the bounce after the opening day shocker, and dealt a hiding to the Piskots.

6) Gotham City Bats 6-2 (+2) 2 good wins in a row, but playing second fiddle to Botev Plovdiv, the Bats aren't accustomed to being under pressure like that!

7) Huddersfield Hippos 6-1 (-1) Not looking like the force they were last season, and somewhat fortunate to still hold a 3 game lead in the division.

8) Monster Piskots 5-3 (-1) Turnovers cost them dearly against the Bats, they will need to resurrect that passing game to regain any impetus they had.

9) Firenze Fappers 5-2 (=) Three in a row, they will need to start chalking the wins up against some of the big guns to be considered as a real force, but progress is good and nobody will take them lightly.

10) Vipers 4-3 (+5) A fine win against Devon, and the vipers are looking like being a surprise package this season

11) The Swiss
12) Sacramento XSV
13) RGIII
14) Carinthian Cowboys
15) Brisbane Meteors

Match of the Day:

Brisbane Meteors 20 vs 24 Huddersfield Hippos

An obvious choice, and a real nail-biter. Brisbane went to Huddersfield and tore the home side's offense apart, however they shipped 3 Interceptions, allowed 4 sacks, and failed on a 4th down, then got stopped on the Hippos 2 yard line as time expired.

The Hippos need to regroup after a tough couple of weeks, and despite the obvious disappointment, the Meteors must take the positives from this excellent performance.

Thanks for the rankings! And thats the first last second win... for the defense Ive seen this season! Usually its a last second TD or FG for the win.

OK, enough of the boring business at the top.... for your enjoyment, here are numbers 32 back up to 20, complete with biting comments.

#32 Cincinatti Ballers 0-8 - Proof, if ever it was needed, that a longer tier structure is needed for RZA - not ready for 1.1 - not even nearly.

#31 Nova Gorica Warriors 2-6 - Just gone bot, never fulfilled early promise, but at least they will have a better record than Cincinnati.

#30 Leipzig Lizards 1-7 - showed brief signs of resiliance last season, but fell back and now it looks like a return to 2.1 is on the cards

#29 Meseta Garnets 1-7 - that shock win over Sacramento fades into history, limp showings against some of the big guns recently are more indicative of their current position.

#28 Mkian Blue Golds 1-7 - look to have a decent Pass D, that's no good unless you can stop the run too! At least they didn't lose as badly to the Moors as some others did.

#27 Insubria Vandals 2-6 - brief glimmers this season, very very brief.

#26 Paradise Forever 2-6 - Paradise Lost is becoming far too frequent nowadays

#25 The Shoulderring Raccoons 3-6 - not much riding on shoulders going on there now, promising start to the season, but they fell off when Brisbane visited in week 4.

#24 Hameln Rats 3-6 - bot status beckons for these perennial also-rans

#23 Chrzanów Grizzlies 3-5 - three red blobs in a row for the Grizzlies, including a horror show against the Fappers which will have given them something to Grizzle about.

#22 Devon Warriors
#21 Styrian Panthers
#20 Idrosburghi Verona

The most unpredictable team this season... beat me (using MOTY), got within 3 points of you, but also lost horribly on several occasions.

Today's results will shake things up a bit!!!

Harsh! Reshaping the roster as previously announced and planned, but still just one game off a wildcard place. Don't think we're doing too badly in fact.

Plus why on earth would I go MOTY wk1 to knock off my top historic divisional rival if I wasn't trying to win.

I certainly don't want to be relegated or be thrashed, being a former bowl champion of the Sea Devils.

And personally, based on previous drafts, I've got as good players at picks the bottom of the round as near the top (given the whole yellow/red cap unpredictability). Plus I've normally picked up players really high up my list with lower picks in the round in any case.

So whether I pick 5th, 15th or 25th doesn't really matter in a major way to me. I think its only the very top few picks where you know you'd get one of the scouted top guys where it holds an advantage picking 5th over 25th.
