Go on then - I'll start the new season's thread this time.

So, for Season 13 - I hope you're all ready with your new playbooks and depth charts, with all players in your roster fully refreshed.

This season we welcome Pittsburgh Steelers, Badson Dogs, Florida State Seminoles, Hannover Metalheads, and lionwings to Thunder 1.1. I'll do a brief run-down of the divisions, I don't pretend to go to the depth that Bovakian does.

AC East - the dominance of Chelsea Raiders looks set to continue. Die Verdammten gave them an impressive run for their money in S12, but have seen 9 players retire in the close season, which must affect them in some way - so looks like a rebuilding season for them. Juan Renegades also had a good S12, but are more likely to be competing for second place at the moment, as Raiders have made big squad investments. As a new team to 1.1, Pittsburgh Steelers are 2.2 League champs and have a mixed bag of fixtures - they have a chance of staying up, but will need to ensure they do their homework against other newly-promoted teams, as otherwise they're going to find it a very long season.

AC North - Gen Rodriguez Warriors again - Mean Machine did well last time, and Flow Gaming negotiated their relegation playoff successfully, but both are some way short of a challenge, despite nestoro having well-publicised retirement problems with his OL. Badson Dogs have a very tough fixture list and are unlikely to win a game.

AC South - whilst its difficult to look past Landru Athletics for a winner, Joburg Brawlers look like they should have another solid season. Budapest Wolves are an enigma - on paper their squad is incredibly strong, but they don't take it onto the field. They rarely spend any money, so they must have the ability to make serious moves in the transfer market if the mood takes them. However, the contract costs of maintaining a squad with that rating must be high. Some pruning required there, possibly. Seminoles, as 2.1 League Champs, may manage to compete here, if they do their homework on their opponents.

AC West - Vienna Falcons are still the outstanding team in this division, though there are rumours of financial problems hovering around, and their first league game is away from home. If they can get to the start of their home and SC games before having players cut, they should still win the division with something to spare. Texas Roadrunners beat the teams you expect them to lose to, and lose to the teams you expect them to beat. If they could find some sort of interest in taking on the run-of-the-mill fixtures, they could be a real contender. Severnside Falcons are still adjusting to League 1.1, and should be targeting something like an 8-8 record and comfort. Hanover Metalheads came up via bot flush, and are going to find it difficult - however, if they can find their best form, they have enough winnable fixtures to get them to the relegation playoffs.

Looking across all of this, it would seem the playoffs may well be the same six teams as last season. Die Verdammten could drop out due to their retirements though, possible to be replaced by Texas Roadrunners if they get their act together.

NC next...

So the NC...

NC East - joyfully, I realised I forgot to welcome back Goldrush to 1.1, so welcome back! Goldrush came up via the relegation playoffs, overcoming Toronto Tigers and replacing them directly. It looks like they've done a fair amount of strengthening work on their squad, so they will be hoping to have a much more competitive season this time. Pucela Towers had the good fortune to have a fairly friendly fixture list last season - it's a bit tougher this time, but should still enable them to avoid any relegation issues if they continue to develop their squad. So it comes down to a face-off between Wild Thangs and Slavia Pankrac. I can see this one going down to the wire this season, and based on the results in the head-to-heads. They each have 10 very winnable fixtures for teams of their quality, who wants it more?

NC North - It's about time salamander assassins challenged for this division. andrakh has been experimenting with his playbook for a couple of seasons now, and he should be familiar with his best approach. However, their have been some squad moves, and the average age of the squad looks young, so he might have been tinkering. RZA's answer to Claudio Ranieri? China Chimp are another team dogged by inconsistency, but their highs never seem as high as the assassins - or their lows so low. With Quarry Bay Raiders looking like a bot team in waiting, the division is open this season. Opole Red Stars - another team I missed (welcome!) came up through beating a bot team in the relegation playoffs. They will look to improve on their previous visit to 1.1, but don't look like they've strengthened. However, their fixture list looks like they might make it to the relegation playoffs.

NC South - Styrian Bears are putting increasing distance between themselves and the rest of the division. Guisborough Priors performance will depend on how much time Bovakian has to spend on game preparation. The Packers look to be solid performers again after a wobble in S11, but the gap to the top two looks too big for them to bridge this season. South Georgia Red Beavers have financial issues again, and so will probably be looking to avoid any relegation concerns before anything else. They need to learn to manage the close season better if they are to have any chance of improving.

NC West - Simkonville Fraggles continue to dominate this division, and at present I can't see that changing. Simkon has changed his roster around, though, so will need to assess how best to organise himself on the field, which may result in a couple of hiccups before he gets it sorted out. This could present an opportunity for Northants Kites to get in on the playoff party, although at present it still looks a bit of a stretch, with another season or two's development of the squad required before that looks truly realistic. London Bulldogs also appear to be developing quietly, meaning that this division should get more and more competitive over the next two seasons. For now though, it's still the Fraggles. Making up the 32nd spot in Thunder 1.1 are lionwings. Unfortunately for them they have a squad that is currently mid-table League 2 standard, and will need a lot of strengthening if they are to compete. They also have a very tough schedule, and could well go the way of Dolphins Pisa last season with a 0-16 record.

In summary, I would predict that Bears and Fraggles will maintain their spots, assassins will come of age and take NC North, and Wild Thangs will win out in NC East. Pankrac and Priors for the wildcard spots.

Thanks for reading, and see you on the field of play...

Thanks Talbot.

Nice to see there is more willing help in Thunder 1.1

Once my move is complete and I'm settled in my new castle, I should have more time to rejoin the forum in force and into the Friendly Cups again.

At the moment I waiting for confirmation of engage of contracts and a completion of sale date so I can move forward with my scottish plan, which should not take as much time as selling this house in jolly olde england, but it will mean probably doing a couple of 1200 mile round trips on short notice.

Good luck to all this season and welcome to our new boys.

I got my number 7 pick which is good. 19 yo CB with 3 star experience both str and speed red capped. looks like I will have to sell but I could do with some money anyway.

I got the OL i wanted with my first pick in the draft. Though this is my first season in Thunder 1.1, I hope that my team is able to compete somewhat to avoid relegation. The Supercup isn't my forte, it might be harder this year considering I face the Chelsea Raiders and Pucela Towers

Got my #2 pick, happy with that - I suspect my #1 was pretty much everybody's #1, so not surprised to miss out - however, he went to Dolphins Pisa, so at least he hasn't gone to anybody who qualifies as a direct rival this season.

Rounds 2 and 3 look very poor though, it was a struggle to actively pick an order down to my slot in the draft.

This season will be interesting - or at least, I think the S13/S14 rollover will be fascinating. I have a feeling that with the new top top league, along with some of the plays being made by the longer established teams in Thunder 1.1, that S14 will be a lot different...

You are in one of the tougher divisions so its going to be tough but I wish you luck and try to learn from your losses. If I remember right it took me 4 seasons until I finally got to the supercup PL. This game is a marathon not a sprint.

I think the top league we actually make the thunder 1.1 league a lot better with 7 or 8 teams having a realistic chance at winning the title.

change is the only constant!
I decided to give the youth a chance and got rid of a few veterans (Mahmoud, you will be remembered ).
I fully expect some "hiccups" again this season - just like in the last.

That said the schedule really puts some pressure on my rebuilding team as Kites and Bears await right at the beginning.
