Well our first game in Elite is in the books. We acquitted ourselves quite well losing 35-31. What really hurt is that our opponents scored a TD with 0.46 remaining in the 4th quarter. No time for a comeback

Fellow coaches:
With my latest fiasco, I have destroyed the finances of the Blood Kings again. I will not make it trough the season and have a positive balance unless I get a PO home game. I still have not recovered from my training fiasco from a few seasons ago (i.e. when I maxed out agility on most of my roster... very bad thing to do). I was getting close to recovering, then I did a screwed up signing of one of my OL. $1.65M per week. That mess-up ended up costing me about $16M. Which for some people is not a big deal, but after my agility mess... I ended last season with $10M in the bank. My problems are self inflicted, but I am just feeling defeated right now. I have made too many mistakes with my team and roster. My head is not in the game right now. To top it off, I put the wrong player up on the Transfer list... So I am going to setup the team for automatic mode and take a week or two to think about sticking around or not. I worked to get my team here and my stupid 'too busy' mistakes are handcuffing me. Until later. Ham |

I know what you mean. I'm dealing with a similar...financial reversal, if you will. I over trained most of my roster (Thank you, Elite League! )and I'm currently attempting to rebuild my team. On top of that, most of the guys I want to "rotate out" have little value on the market due to age. I also went into panic mode and dwelled on letting go of the team...for about 10 minutes. I'm not going anywhere. I just changed my philosophy and made some unpleasant moves. Sure, I'll fall closer to the pack for a bit, but the team will recover- and so can yours.

Yeah, I am dealing with costs of players as well, I need to win at least 11 games this season just to break even.....not a good spot to be. Though some of my "star" players are retiring after this season, which will dramatically reduce costs, but I fear it will also reduce my team's effectiveness quite drastically as well. Not liking the idea of doing worse, when I am barely winning over .500 as it is in 1.1.

Well it would be a shame to see Hamakto go. I'm sure these things happen frequently. However as dpierce says I'm sure the team(s) will recover.
I've never been big on spending either on the TM or salaries although I have splashed out twice on the TM - one season for $26m and last season for $19 (both figures after adjusting for transfers out). However, I ended last season with a wage bill of barely $1m which has now risen to $1.5m. I think a lot of this has to do with bringing up youth players. It remains to be seen how well I do financially now I've hit the Elite league because I have the urge to overtrain now in order to compete. However, I can't see my team surviving the season as we seem to be too far behind the curve. So I expect to be back in Monarchs 1.1 next season with an even bigger wage bill. Fortunately my bank balance is good. Last edited on 2015-11-05 11:33:17 by Captain Jack |

Take it from me - don't do it. That's the main reason I am where I am financially. |

To be honest I'm not sure I could make that much of a change around in one season to enable me to stay in. Anyway I've been miserly ever since I started this game - probably no reason to change now! |

I can't understand your Problem, Captain Jack.
You should be Swimming in Money with your expenses. Your Team did even made a plus so far in Transfers. Not much, but still... I can understand dpierce Problems, since his wages are quite high, but your Setup is quite low, and your coaches are very cheap compared to ours. I had an even Balance last season, this season I will very likely get into red figures, but because of all the seasons I had figures like yours or even better I have cash enough to Keep the Team alive for 10+ seasons. |

In fact quite the reverse. As you said I am swimming in money, because I have been quite frugal. All I was intending to say is that my salaries would go even higher because so far I've had a balanced training approach whereas now I see that some areas might need overtraining to compete in the Elite league. When I talked about not surviving I meant that I would not win sufficient games to stay up. What I suspect will happen is that I drop to 1.1 next season with a much higher wage bill but that is still sustainable because I have lots of cash in hand (or in the bank ). My players should be better and hopefully good enough to make a fairly speedy return to the Elite league. As they will be trained up more then next time around they would be better adapted to compete. |
