The Path to the Playoffs series will give an outlook on the playoff races. Each quarter we'll take a look around the league and the playoff races. 4th Quarter may get a report each week as the race heats up.

AC

The AC East, which rivals the NC South in quality teams from top to bottom and do not have a single team with a losing record. Simkon has a 1 game lead on Wild Thangs. These two still play each other twice so the Thangs are in striking distance. Steelers and Pirates aren't far behind at 2-2 and very alive in the Wild Card race.

The AC North has the lucky Divers on top but the big news is Flow Gaming, the consensus favorite to dominate this division starting 0-4. If they don't right the ship soon their consecutive string of being the division champ may slip away by mid-season. Lions and Beach also have come out slow and are likely to stay in the relegation discussion.

The AC South has another playoff mainstay in trouble. Xu Da starting the season at 0-4 is shocking. Also picked to win the division by pundits the wheels seemed to have come off. True Winners gave all that Xu Da could handle last year as they played each other for the divisional crown on the last game of the year. They have control of the division at 4-0. The Vikings have got off to a better start and look improved. At 2-2 they already have half of the win total they had last year. The Chiefs are also at 2-2 and look solid.

The AC West has Ibhir Narann in control with a 4-0 start. Beating the Cards handily and with the way the team is running in general tells me that they did not enjoy sitting home for the playoffs last season and are ready to roll. Parma Horses are off to a good rookie start. If the season ended today they would have a Wild Card spot. The Cards continue to be the Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde team winning big or losing disappointingly. At 2-2 they are still a threat to Narann and a favorite to earn one of the playoff spots. Fleigers at 1-3 remain in the relegation race.

NC report coming soon...

NC

The East has Die Verdammten off to a dominating 4-0 start and best PD in the league. The rest of the division doesn't look to give any competition and all 3 are fighting to stay out of relegation. This division is the biggest foregone conclusion I have seen in Thunder 1.1.

The North as predicted is a jump ball. With the Lions, Alligators, and Nightcrew all having 2 wins this race should go down to the wire. The Skyhawks have had a disappointing start and rather than be in the division crown discussion are now in the relegation one.

The South is arguably the best top to bottom. Only 1 game separates last place and first. The last place team has a better PD than the top team in the NC North. Patriots were the preseason favorite but the Basterds recent win over them kept them from having a first quarter lead and cushion for the top spot. Any team can beat any other team in this division on any given Sunday. Bogan Galaxy looks improved in their second season and the Deflators defense is one of the most frustrating to game plan against. Look for a photo finish with these guys.

The West has the Broncos written all over it. 4-0 and cruising over 2 rookie owners and a bot as expected. Chesterton Cheese with continued improvement can get themselves out of relegation competition by season end but Newcastle will probably be fighting relegation until the end.

A big thanks goes to Cheeshead. Running with Game of the Week frees me up for Path to the playoffs and gives us a weekly matchup.
