The story is a different one.

Earlier, the managers had money and where able to keep players having average physicals, but high play skills. Meanwhile, teams run out of money step by step. So they value physicaƶ skills over play skills, since physicals do not drive high the salaries. This means, the players become more equal in terms of physicals. This results in more "dice roll" decisions, if the playskills are somehow equal.

I see this happening since a few seasons, and it becomes more and more an issue.

Maybe this the time to kick all managers and restarts the game with season 1...

so what your telling me is to get 50/50/50 players and not care about ratings. gonna field a team of 2 star monsters i guess

No. It is the mix of rating, skills, playbooks, coaches and a good amount of luck that causes wins or losses. Your 2-monsters-approach won't lead to anything lasting, promissed

If you want to make sure everyone playing the game does it "the right way" ... best bet is to play alone.

Back when I started, I was able to get to a fairly competitive (read not good enough to beat Blitzkrieg, Pub Gang or Vulcans, but basically a coin flip with the rest of teams just below that tier) - by running very low salaries, slowly collecting a bunch of premier physicals guys, and just training them to about ~35's for their relevant skills.

That was before the discount for the top skill being ahead of the rest, so that bit has changed the game/strategy there a bit. But back then, you could field a playoff team in 1.1 with that kind of squad. I'm not sure that's the case any more ... from a game design standpoint, I still think there's a few too many "positive feedback" loops, which are great for things like real time strategy and multi-player online battle arenas, where when one team takes a significant enough lead, you want the game to come to merciful end and not drag on.

But for indefinite games like these, it's usually wise to err on the side of too many "negative" feedbacks, and make sure everyone is constantly scratching for whatever the main resources are - be it money, prospects, etc.

I'd honestly suggest making salaries spiral up worse, downgrading the quality of all draft picks, etc. if the game were going to start again from square 1 ... problem for game designers is, short of a reset like Pete (I think sarcastically) mentioned above - most of the steps you could make to correct the positive/negative feedback loop balance - end up greatly favoring those who were established when the positive loops were too strong.

Just my 2 cents. I'd honestly love to see the game get a reset some day, despite being one of teams with a somewhat obnoxious bank roll.

I think I'd probably get burned at the stake if I put that over in the suggestion thread though.

We agree on the salaries, and this is in progress. The last 5 seasons we have seen an increase of salaries based on experience. This task was finished at the last season rollover. I am quite sure it would be wring just to raise the basic salary. Much more I would like to raise the salary for skill combinations that are worth it. The idea is to be able to field an average skilled team without the need for more money than it was now - but to raise the costs of rosters with huge amounts of stars. This is a "over the course of several seasons" thing, again.
