Ahhh.... I culled a few players today. So I may need to build more than you thought. My wages were over £5m, so I cut the 33 year old LB, the £600k a week OL superstar, and an ageing DL. Please don't tell that was another rookie mistake.

I figured the cuts would help reduce my squad to 42, help me focus on what I really need from the draft, and I have a couple of decent players in the academy. Hope I did the right thing!

It is always a good idea to get rid of those aging players that are costing a fortune if your team is in financial trouble. Sometimes we may struggle a bit until our youth gets better, but sometimes it is important to do it.

The main thing is figuring out exactly where to stop your training limits. In the beginning of the game, I tried to get all of my players up to 50 on all stats. That proved to cost a fortune, so I cut training to 50 to just a few players (QB and LB). I have adjusted some since then, but it is important to run your team based on how you set it up. If you only limit yourself to 42 players, you may be able to get more players with higher salaries. Just pay attention to your finances to figure it out.

Thanks - appreciated. I have now started to scale back and concentrate on getting some of the payers to 40.9 at various skills to keep costs down.

I am learning all the time and really grateful for you guys giving me tips and pointers

Dumplings playoff review

Well what a weekend with all winners being the home team but that comment doesn't even begin to describe the very exciting matchups we had:

Eskimos 23:34 Juggernaut - It was all square at half time 13:13 before 3 TD's in a row (inc a pick 6) for Juggernauts saw them victorious. The Juggernauts star RB Andy "Cod" Roe with another 117 yds and a TD from 17 carries powered the team onwards.

Wild Thangs 14:23 Basterds - All square at the beginning of the 4th Qtr 14:14 before the Basterds D scored a safety on a sack and then made the game safe with a TD 7 minutes from time. The Basterds sacked the Wild Thangs 5 times without giving up a sack themselves.

Attack Dogs 17:19 Whitings - The Attack Dogs led 14:0 at the end of the 1st Qtr and 17:7 at the end of the 2nd Qtr before Whitings controlled the 2nd half and scored 4 FG's, the last with just 28 seconds on the clock to win the game !!! The Whitings kicker nailing a 27 yarder in a game that they never led until the final score.

Mantis 26:40 Dumplings - Mantis scored a TD in the 4th Qtr to tie the game 26:26 and the game looked like it could be going to OT before 2 interceptions from the Dumplings secondary set up 2 late TD's. It was 5 interceptions from 5 different players for the Dumplings D who had ensured they had their bottles of stickum.

So the Conference Championships are a battle of the one word teams:

Basterds @ Juggernaut

and a battle of the teams that can be found in a fish stew:

Whitings @ Dumplings

Both games are too close to call and so I won't

Let's hear from you all though as to what the results might be

Congrats mezgitm. I did not expect to compete soo closely as I did. For that reason, this one stings a little bit. Still, I'm proud of the effort. Best wishes going forward.

I have 2 major retirements, so I hope that doesn't effect my teams progress for next season. My first ever draft picks from season 33 are closing in on 30, so I hope to send the to a title game soon.

What a game Dumplings! If it were not for my blunders in the 4th quarter, this could have been a win for the Mantis! (oops...I meant to say your quality play, and not my blunders!) lol.

It was a really fun game to watch (It's easy to tell after you win but yeah :beer.
To be honest my team is performing better than I expected and was expecting a close game Hopefully this was a sign for us for a long lasting rivalry

I wasn't active this year on forums but it's always fun to read reviews so thank you everyone spending their time to make our forum live and attractive.

Yes - sorry I am quiet on forums. Hope to add more next season. Combination of work quietening (I can hope) as we deal with COVID and more knowledge on my part might mean I raise my head above the parapet more!!

Now to plot my draft picks!!

Dumplings playoff review

Congratulations and commiserations to the winners and losers of the Conference Finals as 2 teams head back to Elite and another 2 teams battle it out in Thunder for another year:

Basterds 27:28 Juggernaut - In a battle of the one word teams it was Juggernaut who squeezed out on top. The Basterds took the lead with 2 FGs in the 1st Qtr before Juggernaut scored 2 TDs and despite Basterds best efforts they couldn't regain the lead. The 4th Qtr was a scoreless, bruising period which saw Juggernaut hang on and claim victory.

Whitings 14:34 Dumplings - And the fish stew Bowl served up a treat for fans of the Gold and Black as the Norfolk Dumplings defence produced a great performance with 4 sacks, 1 Int and 3 Fum Rec (1 of which was returned for a TD).

So just the Bowl to come and it will be:

Dumplings v Juggernaut

Thanks everyone for a great season and I wish you all the very best in the draft
