This is a really interesting conundrum and I bet 10 out of 10 managers will say that their approach is really different from others. I know I'm no Elite, but I thought I might still chime in.
My draftees usually end up being WRs or players on the Defensive side. From the 24 drafted players I had: - 7 on the team, 4 of them are designated starters - 4 are Free Agents - 13 are on a team (5 are on a bot team) I drafted each player with a BPA mindset. Now, I'm one of those managers that constantly scour the market for not just improvement only, but for value as well. I'm a Free Agent grabber, I have to admit, which means that I have an unusual amount of player traffic, especially in the 24-26 year range, so when I find a cheaper option that can substitute a player I have, I usually go for it. Even if it does not work out, I still usually get good trade value. I also actively hunt for my YA, since I tend to pull the worst academy guys most of the time, so even the players that come through my YA, some of them even renamed, I'd not say that are completely, 100% mine. All this makes the composition of my team really complex to draw statistics from, IMO. |

Pick 16 - Raven Loonies: CB Rondall Owuor Under a new franchise name the Ravens of PJ are back to SD1 even after a 9-7 season. The mid table pick do not seem very exciting for a solid team with no immediate worries about the roster to address. The only possible strategy is going for the BPA. The 19 yo CB has a lot of experience and it may atract some managers. He is also very fast and could settle very well in the position. He will have a long way ahead and will stay on bench for a while. But the Ravens have no hurry. Thanks very much indeed for your mock draft and the effort you put on it. I really enjoyed reading it. I put CB Rondall Owuor on #6 because of is low INT. I had to privilege another position for my first #1 & #2. Picking as 16th If I could get him I would not complain at all |

Yes fun mock you did for us!
I landed MAVROS - arguable the best OL/offensive player on the board. Had him as #1 pick and got him! |

23 of my top 32 went in the first round, so my rankings weren't too far off from the consensus.
Thrilled to have landed Bouvet (now Caldwell) as he was my top player and brings some youth to my aging WR corps. And as a little bonus, strength isn't capped yet |

You do not have to tell, but I wonder if he was caped or not. He was my top pick too as I do not have my next QB. I managed to draft the second best QB in the board (less smart, but more talented, older but way more XP) who was soft capped at 40 (still soft capped at 41 after training) in Strength and soft caped at 45 in speed. I can live with a 42.x STR QB, now I hope he will cap higher than 46 in speed. Anyway, this draft class was maybe the worst I ever saw in 25 seasons. |

Interesting to see how our opinion about players are different... I think Aron Þór Ulrich is definitely better than Suani Bolatoga. Only INT -2.5 and 1 year old, but he has TAL=5* vs TAL=4.5* but most important ha has already EXP=4* vs EXP=2* Of course in both cases SPE could make a difference. I have the luxury oh having 10+ OL and only 4 that are not 5* xp. If the caps are OK, this QB will spend at least 5 seasons playing all the snaps at OL on easy games while my current back-up (who will never be Elite material but will have to take the job for 2 or 3 seasons) will build its own XP at QB.
But honestly, none of those two QB, even with great caps, will match my previous starters (with my Goats and more recently my Ducks). Last edited on 2021-05-05 06:45:00 by Kanar |
