This is not really a bug but not sure where to put it otherwise. Examine this play from a scrimmage (which shows blocking results):
0:49 3 and 4 to go on opp 34, Sanzhar Mirzoev (OC) snaps the ball to Farkas Havas (QB), who runs by himself, this seems to be a run over the left tackle, Blocking: Sanzhar Mirzoev (OC) missed to block Janos Kolowrat (NT), Sokratis Misko (OG/R) missed to block Fred Cummins (DT/L), Wilton Damron (OG/L) missed to block Jacob Klijnstra (DT/R), Francisco Mcintire (OT/R) missed to block Petru Astanei (DE/L), Ascanio Venturin (OT/L) missed to block Will Vidal (DE/R), DLine has 5 members in shape after blocking Farkas Havas (QB) tackled by Herman Haggard (MLB), forward progress: 7 yards, New first down (Pro set vs. 5-3-3) more Should there not be a missed tackle in this play somewhere as he runs over the left tackle who missed his block so the DE/R should be able to make a tackle here, yet ball carrier is tackled in the backfield by the MLB. This is the play immediately before the above one: 1:16 2 and 4 to go on opp 34, Sanzhar Mirzoev (OC) snaps the ball to Farkas Havas (QB), Farkas Havas (QB) runs by himself, this seems to be a run over the left guard, Blocking: Sokratis Misko (OG/R) missed to block Fred Cummins (DT/L), Wilton Damron (OG/L) missed to block Jacob Klijnstra (DT/R), Francisco Mcintire (OT/R) missed to block Petru Astanei (DE/L), Ascanio Venturin (OT/L) missed to block Will Vidal (DE/R), DLine has 4 members in shape after blocking Farkas Havas (QB) tackled by Fred Cummins (DT/L), forward progress: no gain (Shotgun 2 WR vs. 4-3-4) more This is how I expect it to happen in the later play as well as all 4 D linemen are unblocked and ball carrier is brought down with no gain. So I was just wondering if there is a missed tackle missing |

this is 2 things mixed and a wrong conclusion, or I understood it the wrong way.
But in a few words: A Dliner running over the Oliner does not result in a more or less automatic tackle chance. |

my point is that an unblocked D lineman should either make an unsuccessful or a successful tackle on the RB that runs through his zone. Either should then show up in game log. Since RB ran for 7 yards there must have been an unsuccesful tackle no?

Since RB ran for 7 yards there must have been an unsuccesful tackle no? Out of position? RB was already passed by the time he broke through? Broke through on the wrong side? Too many variables to guarantee they were in the same place at the same time. |

when I was playing OL, my line coach alwas said: I do not care what you do, how you do, but if your opp touches the ball carrier, you failed. Often enough it was easier to miss my block but making sure the opp would stay out of reach of my teammate, by kind of offering the wrong side in a hidden, not obvious way, as example. If I was good, my opp had no chance for an unsuccessful tackle
and yes, Rufio is right as well |

So your saying that "missed to block Jacob Klijnstra (DT/R)" can mean that he is not blocked but could not reach the ball carrier?
EDIT: hmm it seems the reply I replied to from Pete has disappeared Last edited on 2021-10-23 17:52:20 by RonaldVennegoor |
