First Round Matchups

AC

Derbent Convicts @ Vikings

These 2 teams have yet to play each other. Vikings are a solid all around team where the Convicts are a team that started later and has gained ground and made strides.

If I was making a betting line I would say Vikings by 12.

Godesberg @ Miami

Earlier in the season Miami beat Godesberg 48-17. Miami will win this game. Godesberg went "GOD" mode in their last matchup with the Bucks. By going MOTY it cost him 14 PC points as a team. Right now Godesberg has a Team PC of 86%. I don't blame them for using MOTY as it ensures them a playoff spot and some extra cash. However ensuring a playoff spot by using MOTY also ensure a quick exit in the first playoff game. What surprises me is that Bucks didn't also use MOTY in that super tight game. If they did then it might have been them playing the Vikings.

Betting Line Miami by 24

Mirmidones @ St. Pauli

St. Pauli beat them earlier 51 to 21. Of course the only reason St. Pauli is even playing in this game is they went relaxed mode vs Blackmanes in their last game and got crushed. I think St. Pauli should win this one as long as they don't go relaxed mode again.

St. Pauli by 21

Cheshire @ Blackmanes

This is probably the closest game of the round. This game may come down to philosophy.

Blackmanes are a running team. In fact among the playoff teams they are among the lowest in offensive pass production. They are a top 5 rush offense. If they start falling behind will they be able to dig out? Rarely do runs go 50 plus yards but passes do. On defense they are middle of the road in both areas and get the average number of turnovers when compared to the league. Out of the playoff teams they are smack dab in the middle in most categories.

Cheshire has a balanced offense that relies more towards the pass. They seem to have reduced the turnovers by using more runs. Their strength is the pass defense but that seems pretty useless in this match. Their run defense is still solid. They don't allow a lot of points. The one weakness they have on defense is the lack of pressure. They have 2 fumbles recovered and 5 sacks for the season. Some teams have had that in one game. They don't get turnovers, don't score much on defense, but they don't allow a lot of long drives.

So will the all around balanced Cheshire prevail or the Run specialized Blackmanes?

I'm betting on Cheshire by 3.

Side note, I'm considering that although Oddball has had Cheshire since just August he was also here a long time ago for a while with some good squads. So he is an experience manager with a playbook.

Anyone want to make pick winners? I can keep tabs on who has the most right in the playoffs. You don't have to use the subjective lines I put in here. You can just choose straight up.

My official picks: Vikings, Miami, St. Pauli, and Cheshire.

Round 1 Review and Round 2 Preview

Review

I was 3-1 on my picks. Blackmanes took advantage of 4 interceptions by Cheshire to handle them easily. The rest of the games went how most would have predicted. Not much commentary on these blowouts. Although Mirmidones did hang with St. Pauli and was within 1 score in the 4th quarter. After the initial 3-0 lead Mirmidones did not have another lead throughout the game.

Preview

These games take place on Christmas day so who will get a present and who will get coal? lol

Miami @ SF

Although I did dominate Miami in the first matchup I don't think it will go that way this time. I have taken a major hit in TC. That darn Flims sale had me buying and me selling to make room. My TC is in the low 70's and sure to play a role in this game. My team ratings are much improved though. I think I traded postseason success this season for better team next season. If I win it will be a Christmas miracle. I am picking Miami to win this game.

St. Pauli @ Red Bull

In their matchup earlier in the season St. Pauli took Red Bull down with a score of 45-10. At that time St. Pauli was rolling. However the last several games St. Pauli just hasn't been right. Not sure as to why. Despite the previous result I am picking Red Bull to win this.

Blackmanes @ Budapest

A few games ago Budapest beat Blackmanes by 20 points. I don't expect this matchup to end that differently, although Blackmanes has surprised me recently.

Vikings @ Turigtians

Turigtians won 19-13 in a thriller earlier in the season. This will be a great game as both teams are defensive teams that run the ball. This is a coin flip at best.

I'm just excited someone responded to a post lol. It has been a month and half since anyone responded. Lol. Wonder why the others are so shy? Outside of you no one else responds even though they are active.

sfniner. I read all the posts. been a good season review so thanks for the effort.

my disappointment since returning is to see even when you tone down the passing its not viable early on. This has shown with my team being picked off in most games.

Honestly if you look at D1 the top teams have solid to great running offenses. The overall passing production seems less in D1 but that could be due to less bots.
