Post Game Week 4

Budapest Janitors 31 Girona Dragons 23

This is the second week in a row for Budapest! Last week they beat Torpedoes with 4 long touchdown passes. This week the beat Girona using 41, 63, and 80 yard touchdowns to win. Much like last week the opponent held the ball for 60% of the time and outgained them in most stats. This Week Girona had 33 first downs to Janitors 12. Girona had 506 yards to Janitors 385. Girona had 34 carries at 4.9 ypc to Janitors 40 carries at 2.9 ypc. Girona was 12/19 on 3rd down to Janitors 4/13. This is crazy! Have Janitors found a playbook that sets up the super long touchdown passes or are they living on borrowed time? Is it careful planning or is it the luck of the sim gods? lol. Janitors were 14 of 17 passing for 269 yards and 4 touchdowns. Taking those 4 td passes out and their offense numbers are 40 carries at 2.9 ypc and 10 of 13 for 74 yards.

Jackalopes 27 Panthers 20

Are Jackalopes using the same playbook as Janitors? lol. Kind of the same kind of game. And it is the 2nd game this has happend for Jackalopes much like Janitors.

The numbers:

Panthers first downs 31 Jackalopes 13
Panthers 507 yards Jackalopes 270 (only 12 yards rushing)
Panthers 44 carries 6.3 ypc Jackalopes 27 carries 0.4 ypc
Panthers 7/15 on 3rd down Jackalopes 2/12 on 3rd down.
Panthers TOP 59% to Jackalopes 41%

Jackalopes won with 2 interceptions that resulted in 10 points and an 80 yard touchdown pass. It is true the field goal off of the interceptions was a decent drive but more importantly the Panthers had the ball on the Jackalopes 1 yard line on first down when they threw the interception.

Panthers had a chance to score right before half. They were in the redzone but ran out of time. A line in the playbook for kicking a field goal within 45 seconds left in the half and within field goal range would help that. With 30 seconds left in the half it was 2 and 6 on the Jackalopes 20 yard line but panther ran another play to get to a few more yards but then ran out of time.

Quack Attack 17 Westlake 16

This game was won by Quack attack with a fumble recovering that got them a touchdown and 2 good drives that got them a td and a field goal.

Quack attack had 5 drives that had a combined 26 plays for a combined 58 yards. They had 3 other drives: an 11 play drive for 74 yards and a td, a 16 play 71 yard with a field goal, and a 4 play 80 yard drive for a td.

This should not make it any surprise that the Marines had more TOP, more yards, and 28 first downs to the quack 18 first downs.

Who needs the garbage yards, am I right? I think it's just the fact that I either go 3'n'out or just score a TD, nothing really else in-between, so I don't rack up either possession time, or downs. It's pretty tricky to build from a safe playbook into a diverse one, without sacrificing the 'safe' part.

Also, 1038 yards, 13-0 TD-INT ratio and getting sacked only 2 times in 4 games....

Preview Week 5

Before typing anything about the actual previews I'd like to make a statement:

These previews and reviews are only my opinion of that matchup. It is not a judgement that you suck or are the best lol. It is not intended to talk trash either. I do use some data and information to form my thoughts but in the end I am just one person interpreting those data points. Mostly this is for entertainment purposes. If it does bother you then you are free to not read it. If you disagree with these previews and reviews I welcome feedback as long as it is constructive and contributes to a discussion.

Now to the games at hand!

We have 4 games featuring winning record teams vs opponents with winning records. There will be movement in that power ranking for sure.

2-2 Baltic Stars @ 3-1 Mulheim Seahawks Divisional Opponents

Last season the Seahawks won both games with scores of 42-40 and 41-26.

When I look at last season 3 of the 5 Stars wins were when the opponent was under 20 points, once when they won 23-22, and once in a shootout with the Wolves. Outside of that they allowed defense to typically score in the 30's. The Stars were able to also score in the 30's. The Stars lost all but one game they were in a shootout with. They allowed 40 or more points only 3 times last season with 2 of those from the Seahawks.

It would seem all gloom and doom however I offer the following as the hope the Stars: This season (only a 4 game sample) the Seahawks lowest statistic on defense is they are 20th in pass td allowed per game and with the Stars having the #1 passing offense that is a good thing for them.

It is a classic running vs passing game. Seahawks seem to have a better overall defense. It honestly comes down to the number of interceptions the Stars throw. It is inevitable with the sheer volume of passes that it will happen. I'll venture to say if the Stars can keep it under 3 interceptions they have a great chance for a win, more than that and it might be a long day.

3-1 Budapest Janitors @ 3-1 Gardians

Last season the Gardians eaked out a 24-20 win. What I find interesting are the playing styles compared to the results for both teams.

Gardians first 4 games this season: In the last 3 games they played they won and had dominate time of possessions, carries, and rushing yards. In the first game they lost they had less time of possession and ran only 20 ish times. Yet they are number one in passing td's and number 12 in rushing td's. They have the 3rd most productive offense so far with a good defense as well.

Budapest games have been noted earlier in this thread. They do run a lot and only pass 10 to 20 times in a game but when they do pass....well....hold on to your seat. They might have the most long touchdown passes (Jackalopes might be up there to a little) of anyone. Because of that they are tied with Gardians for 1st in passing td's a game. The biggest key for Budapest is the fact they don't throw interceptions. Yes that is correct, they are tied for number 1 in passing tds but have not thrown an interception yet. Part of that is the low number of passes per game.

I am fascinated to see how these two teams that score a ton but from completely different styles will turn out! Like the game with the Stars....as long as Budapest continues to not throw interceptions they are right there.

3-0 Mulheim Steelers @ 3-1 Panthers

Panthers have won against Steelers 5 out of the last 6 times. The last game they played was supercup season 43 and the only time the Steelers have beaten them.

I honestly have no idea how this game turns out as both teams seem to have strong units on both sides of the ball. I was having trouble finding any cracks in their stats. I'm just interested to see how it turns out.

4-0 The Pinellas Pikes @ 3-1 Moraira Moors

The Bandits....er....Pikes I mean won the first match vs Moors back in season 41 but has since lost the last 3 times these teams have met. In those three wins by the Moors they averaged around 30 points a game.

The Moors have scored 38,59,24, and 31 points while allowing 24 or few points each game. That sounds great....

However the Pikes have also scored 38,42,38,45 while allowing fewer than 10 points in 3 of the 4 games.

I do think Moors have a tough schedule. The last 2 games the Pikes played were vs recent promotions and generally recent promotions aren't quite ready to compete for the playoffs.

The first 4 games are difficult to gauge which of these teams has an edge. Using last season is challenging as well. The Pikes were in the conference championship game whereas Moors were in the Elite league and was relegated.

We know both teams are strong across the board and this is one of the first big matchups in this early season. Even though I have no clue who wins I couldn't just ignore this game on the slate.

I woulda thought Deventer vs Paladins was deserving of a pre-game analysis too.

Good to see that there are no preview about my game. Now I am more confident about my winning chances next Saturday.

Sorry about that. 2 Mulheims, 2 Budapest, 2 Wolves....lol.

In time: thankfully I have changed my team's name to Atoms. Otherwise we would also have 2 Stars.

I'm not so sure thats a certainty. U need to quite putting so much trust and weight on the ratings. They are mostly skewed..
