Post Game Reviews Week 3
The last 2 or 3 seasons in Dragons I wrote up some pre and post game write ups. I'm only going to write up post games as I don't know enough about the teams up here to make predictions. The games I write reviews on are either close games, statistically interesting to me, relevant to post game races, or I just think are plain interesting. I obviously won't write up games that are blowouts. Unless it is a super relevant game I won't usually write up MOTY games such as mine this week in the upset. Hooligans Deflate the Deflators with a magical 3rd quarter. If you were to look at these stat lines of: Team A: 26 first downs, 401 yards offense, TOP 35:12 Team B: 10 first downs, 314 yards offense, TOP 24:48 You would assume team A won but alas they did not. You might assume it was because they threw 5 interceptions. That played a small part of it, but that accounted for a difference of only 10 points as Hooligans threw 2 of their own. Minus the 3rd quarter the Deflators outscored Hooligans 13-12. That third quarter for the Hooligans was what they needed: They started off with a 70 yard td pass. Their defense pinned Deflators to their own 8 where they punted. Hooligans started on the 38 yard line but that is all they needed as the first play of that drive was a 38 yard td pass. 4 minutes later Hooligans throw an interception that is returned 42 yards after getting to the 26 yard line of Deflators. Disaster? Nope as 4 plays later Deflators throw an interception that is returned 44 yards. A few plays later the Hooligans throw a 21 yard td pass. Those 3 passes accounted for 41% of the total Hooligans offense....and essentially the game. Highland Wildcats Run Over Stone Mountain Hawks 34-31 There were only 19 total possessions in this game. This game was statistically super even. 50% TOP for both. HWC had 24 first downs to the Hawks 25. HWC had 365 total yards to the Hawks 378. The difference in this game came down to 2 factors. First, the interception thrown by Stone Mountain half way through the 3rd quarter with score 20-14 in favor of Wildcats. That gave the ball to the Wildcats at the Hawks 19 yard line and eventual td to make it 27-14. Second, the fact the Hawks could not stop the Wildcat ground game. The Hawks ran 19 times for 1.8 yards a carry where as the Wildcats ran 29 times for 5.5 yards a carry. This was especially evident in the only 4th quarter score by the Wildcats. That was a 14 play 81 yard touchdown drive that took over 5 minutes of clock time. What is more amazing is 12 of those plays were runs totaling 74 yards. Mystics edge Loonies 17-16 The weird thing about this game is the low score considering the first downs (25 Mystics 22 Loonies) and yards (442 mystics 352 Loonies). The first quarter was.....mostly uneventful with no scores. There were 5 punts, an interception, and a turnover on downs off of that interception. Loonies lobbed a 47 yard td pass in the beginning of the second quarter. They then exchanged field goals to finish the half. The second half was all over the place lol. 1 field goal miss by each, 4 punts, another interception by Mystics, a couple of field goals by Loonies, and a TD by Mystics. What eventually led to the outcome of the game was key 3rd downs for the Loonies. In the second half alone they couldn't convert a 3rd and 1 to extend a drive at midfield, had 2 drives stall at the 14 yard and 11 yard line of Mystics that ended as field goals. In the first half they got to the 7 yard line of the Mystics and settled for a field goal. So they had 4 scoring drives and only the 47 yard pass was a td. |

In the last 3 games Steve had outscored his opponents 44-7 in the 4th quarter with 2 of those come from behind wins.

Strange...I have Mülheim home and away this season even though he's not in my division. Is that normal / correct?
