Really great preview indeed!
The secret to what is a Consair... it is a well kept secret that has been passed on from previous generations... it is... a missread... we are Corsairs, with 's' But a lovely writeup anyway! No need to fix it, it is better that way :-) |

Game 1
Dras Patriots 13@33 English Eagles The Dras Patriots rocked up to a snowy Kestrel Road, Barnsley (UK) to kickoff Season 51. Controversy surrounds Patriots Owner Chapper who has been missing since the 20th February. Rumours are that Chapper has emptied the Patriots Bank Account to fund his hedonistic lifestyle of Haribos and Guinness. It remains to be seen if the Patriots will last the season, however the team turned up to the stadium on a series of Tandem Bicycles in hand me down uniforms from the local football team (yes football not soccer) Sheffield Wednesday. The game wasnt much to write about, The Eagles taking an early 1st half lead 20-6 before taking their foot off the gas. The Second Half was drawn 10-10, very disappointing against a 48% rated side. Quarterbck Balandis, who is getting quite the reputation for Turnovers, managed to toss or fumble the ball to the Patriots on 4 Occasions. |

Game 2
Konjarnik Hightowers 33@28 English Eagles Ulero brought his Serbian High Towers on the 1500 mile trip to Barnsley (UK) admist local protests against the RZA League from Green Peace Supporters surrounding the Carbon Footprint of the RZA. Should Divisions be determined by travel distance? Despite the disruption the Serbians hit the town in huge controversy the night before the big game, taking in the local bars and pubs ending thier night in the infamous Joseph Brammah Pub ![]() Source: https://www.useyourlocal.com/imgs/pubs/800/71238_cm_8054_1.jpg The heavy night of drinking didnt seem to effect the Team on the pitch, but the Eagles came close finally to ending the HighTower winning streak. The 1st Quarter was a tight affair as the Hightowers scored a 49 Yard Field Goal, before the Eagles drove the field, ending in a 11 Touchdown Pass. Not to be outdone the HighTowers finished a half of just 2 possesions with a 3 yard TD Pass. The Eagles would reply immediately and re take the lead early in the 2nd Quarter Balandis finding WR Burt Kitchen for a 20 yard TD. The Eagles were seemingly on fire, as they added another Touchdown just minutes later, Balandis with a 4 yard run. Just like that the Eagles had a 21-10 lead with 4 minutes of the 1st half remaining. Step up your friend, but certainly not mine, Edgaris Balandis. Somewhere towards the end of the 1st Half old Eddy forgot which team he was playing for. On a 4th and 3 attempt (dont ask) Balandis threw his first Interception of the day which was duely returned for a TD. On the very 1st play after that TD he chucked another Interception, and a 21-10 lead with 4 minutes to play was now a 21-24 deficit. Cracking effort! Maybe youd think he was done for the half. But youd think wrong... With 27 seconds left of the half Balandis threw his 3rd pick of the afternoon, allowing the High Towers another score, this time a Field Goal. In 4 minutes - FOUR MINUTES, our Eddy had taken a 21-10 lead and turned it into a 21-27 deficit with 3 Interceptions. His 4th Interception would come on the very next drive, with the Eagles 30 yards from the High Towers End Zone With the ball on the Opposition 3 yard line Eddy was sacked for his 5th turnover of the day. Heading into the 4th Quarter the Eagles were 21-30 behind, in a game they really should have led. With 10 minutes remaining, Eddy B remembered which side he was on, driving the field for a 6 Yard Rushing TD, 28-30... DESPITE our best efforts to throw it away, we were still in it!! With 5 minutes to go the High Towers added a 50 Yard FG, but left the Eagles 1 Touchdown from an amazing victory. 1 minute and 16 left Eddy, now nicknamed Eddy The Eagle after the infamously poor ski jumper (look him up) has a 2nd and 10 with 29 yards to go... So close the Eagles can smell victory. Eddy the Eagle had a different idea however, and decided that WHAT THIS GAME NEEDED was another pick. His 5th of the day, and what a time to throw it. Despair on the Eagles Bench. We had thrown it away... Eddy wasnt done though. A misconceived 52 yard field goal with 15 seconds left missed by the HighTowers kicker Jovanovic gave the Eagles the unexpected opportunity to have ONE LAST HAIL MARY to win the game. Ten Seconds to go Its all on the line A chance to knock off the dominant High Towers A chance to go 2-0 Eddy has the ball on his own 42, The Snap from Courney Eddy steps back, surveys the field.... And throws another Pick! ![]() Goodnight! |

Game 3
English Eagles 41@20 Poruba Jeremies The Czech Republic was the destination for the Eagles first away day of the season, and the Town of Poruba, located on the outskirts of Ostrava. ![]() Source: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/bhs1S6AqJNw/maxresdefault.jpg The Eagles were expecting an easy ride. Poruba had lost thier previous 2 League games of the season 139-0 versus the Ghost of Bautzen and 84-16 against the Hamburg Baltic Dogs. What we didnt count on was the Turnover Machine Eddy the Eagle. In the end we managed to keep the ball long enough to secure the victory, however it is clear Eddy is going to need this season to improve his experience and training stats before leading us anywhere near the RZA Playoffs. In the end Eddy had 395 yards, 3 TD, 4 INT Plus 84 Rushing Yards for another 2 TD. Eagles go 2-1, but have the Ghost of Bautzen next... |

Game 4
English Eagles 21@30 Ghost of Bautzen Confusion reigned as the Eagles set of for what they thought was a trip to Japan (The Flag next to Bautzen is Japanese). Imagine their surprise when they boarded a plane to Dresden, Germany. Bautzen is a town East of Dresden ![]() Source: https://img.locationscout.net/images/2015-06/friedensbruecke-bautzen-germany_l.jpeg The Eagles may as well have turned up in Japan for the first half, as they fell 17-0 behind. With the Eagles taking the first possesion of the ball Eddy the Eagle tossed the ball to Bautzen Cornerback Balis with 40 yards to go. With Short Field advantage, Bautzen marched downfield to take the lead. Following a 3 and out on their next possesion, Bautzen sliced through the Eagles defence to make it 14-0. Another Turnover in the 2nd Quarter from Balandis was followed by a FG and 17-0 lead. The Eagles finally turned up in Germany in the 2nd half, Balandis running for a 6 yard TD. The Bautzen offence were continuing to fair well against the Eagles usually reliable defence, and added a FG right back. A long possesion from the Eagles, just their 2nd of the half would lead to another TD early in the 4th Quarter, dragging the score back to 20-14 and within one possesion of taking the lead. With 8 minutes to go The comeback was completed, as the Eagles scored their 3rd Touchdown in as many possesions, marching downfield for a 11yard TD Pass to Tight End Scott Hannon. The Eagles had the lead for the first time in the game at 21-20. Forcing Bautzen to Punt with 5 minutes remaining, the game was finally in our hands. Enter stage right 'Eddy the Eagle' On his own 18, with 5 minutes to play Eddy tossed his 2nd Interception (3rd turnover) of the game allowing Bautzen to retake the lead with 4 minutes remaining. Still time 1 MINUTE AND 16 left on the Bautzen 32... Eddy tosses his 3rd pick of the day and the game is over! Another day another hammering of the Self Destruct button. |

Game 5
The 2-1 Hamburg Baltic Dogs made the trip to Barnsley this week to take on the 2-2 Eagles. I did search to see what a Baltic Dog was, but google just showed me images of dogs, who looked a bit cold. This was a game, with no disrespect to the Dogs, that we expected to win. Hamburg have a 54% rating and are ranked 26th in the league. The game played out pretty much as expected. Hamburg struggled to gain yardage against the Eagles Defence, The Dogs managing just 227 yards. Alternatively the Eagles had 559 total yards (235 yards on the ground). Eddy managed to limit his turnovers to just 3 (2 Interceptions and a Fumble) as his disappointing turnover form continued. Eddy had 324 Yards, 2 TDs through the air and 191 Yards, 2 TDs on the ground. Hamburg Baltic Dogs 6 @ 48 English Eagles The Eagles take on The Bombers on Tuesday who are ranked 23rd in the League with a 52% Overall Rating. Last edited on 2023-03-26 14:18:25 by butchpt6 |

Game 5
The Eagles hopped over the Atlantic for a game with Highballs Bombers. The Bombers are ranked 21st in the Sea Devils League, with an Overall Rating of 52% Highball have been around since Season 49 and play in the imaginatively named Nutbobber Stadium. Unfortunately i have no idea where The Bombers come from as they arent on the World Map. They come into the game against The Eagles with a 1-4 record and succumbed to 528 Offensive Yards by the Eagles, with the majority of the points coming in the Second and Third Quarters. Eddy threw for 348 Yards, 5 TDs with 2 INT and a Fumble. He also ran for 170 Yards and a further 3 TDs. Tight End Mitchell Baboyan had 11 Catches for 85 Yards and 2 TDs. Linebacker Pirimov had 3 Sacks and 1 Interception English Eagles 63 @ 10 Bombers |
