I know this has been discussed more than once before, but I wanted to throw another try at it.
It would be REALLY nice to have at least some idea of how effective TEs and FBs are at blocking both in run and pass plays. Especially when making plans such as, oh say, Coaches, Players, Training, Playbook, etc.
It seems like the consensus is that FBs definitely help with pass blocking, but other than that, it's a lot of guess work. Do FBs lead block for rushes? Supposedly, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence for this. How often to TEs block for pass plays and how effective are they? No way to know. Do they block on end rushes? One would assume that, but you know what assuming gets you... (a lot of donkeys)
Basically, there's no way to make informed decisions on a lot of team-building around these two positions, which is mildly frustrating. Maybe there's some valid reason for not having stats for these, but if they just got mentioned doing some of these things in scrimmages or something.

TEs do not block on pass plays, that is for sure. They are a passing target in all pass plays.

My FB since S46 (Brad Long) has blocking back trait. I haven't noticed anything drastically different compared to guys I played at FB before him that didn't have the trait. It might contribute marginally on a few runs here and there, but not noticeable.

I also dabbled with it on RBs for Pro Set, flexbone, wishbone, etc and didn't notice anything. That's not to say it doesn't exist, but it was too hard for me to discern anything positive amidst the noise.

Plus, FBs pick up the blitzes based almost entirely on formation. Now, maybe Brad Long blocked slightly better and my QB got to avoid a sack or two that he wouldn't have otherwise throughout the season, but you will see FB blocks on almost every play that the formation dictates he does on passes and LB blitzes or DE breaks through.

What makes you believe this? Why would they not block on some passing plays, especially if there is a blitz or if flanks only is selected?

And it would make Pete's statement a bit misleading if you are correct:

The TE and FB are an important part of the Blitz protection for a Quarterback/Rusher, and with this change they play their role now.

The only times when TEs block is on a rushing plays.
Perhaps on passing plays, they make a small block (not likely), but then run their route to catch the pass and because flanks are selected the QB won't throw the ball to them.

Then why does he put out that TEs are an important part of blitz protection?

This is from the manual.

Tight End
A Tight End is a hybrid between two very different positions, the Wide Receiver and Offensive Lineman. As such they block in the running game and receive passes in the passing game.

And if you have a TE with "Pass Blocker" trait, he increases his agility & blocking, which is good for run plays also.

Don't know why? The thing is like this, if you play for example Shotgun 2WR, and if the DE breaks through and the LB blitzes, the FB picks up one block and one of the 2 defensive players gets a sack. I didn't see TE block on this.

I double-checked both descriptions in the manual, and they tell the full truth. No guessing needed, IMO.

So you're saying a TE ALWAYS runs passing routes for pass plays? No blocking?

As I told you in my first answer, YES TE ALWAYS runs passing routes on passing plays and TE NEVER BLOCKS on pass plays.
